Yanggao is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province, adjacent to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region by the Great Wall in the north, Hunyuan and Guangling in the south, datong county in the west and Tianzhen County and Yangyuan in Hebei Province in the east, with a total area of 1.726 square kilometers.
Yanggao County governs 8 towns and 5 townships: Longquan Town, Tanzao Town, Dabaideng Town, Wang Guan Tun Town, Gucheng Town, Dong Xiao Village, Youzai Town, Shizitun Town, Changcheng Township, beixutun township, Xiashenjing Township, Majiazhao Township and Aoshi Township.
Yanggao County is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with Yunmen Mountain in the north, Cailiang Mountain in the west and Liulingshan in the south, with two basins in the middle. The highest Six Ridges Mountain is 2420 meters above sea level. The mountainous area accounts for 3 1.7% of the county's total area, the Sichuan area accounts for 36.5%, and the hilly area accounts for 3 1.8%, accounting for nearly two thirds of the world. Huang Shuihe has Sanggan River, Wuqi River, Dengbai River and Heishui River.
Yanggao County has a continental climate with four distinct seasons. The annual average temperature is 7. 1℃, the frost-free period is about 125 days, and the precipitation is 400 mm.
Yanggao is rich in millet, millet, beans, naked oats, yam eggs, sorghum, corn, flax, white hemp and sugar beet. The territory is hilly and rich in forestry resources, including papaya, roses and medlar. Penang's Shaguo, Jingxing, preserved apricots in Tun Town, and Yuancai in Wang Guan and Tanzao Town are famous at home and abroad, and they are one of the seven vegetable production bases in China.
There are 22 kinds of underground mineral deposits such as gold, iron, copper, coal, limestone, quartzite, iron ore and potash feldspar.
The site of "Xu Jiayao Man" was found in 1976, and the descendants of "Beijingers" lived in the ancient town of Xu Jiayao Village. This discovery fills the gap between "Beijingers" and "intelligent people" and is listed as a provincial cultural relics protection unit. Neolithic sites are located in Shenjing Township and Tianqiao Township under the Great Wall. The ancient buildings listed as provincial cultural relics protection units include Yunlin Temple, which is located in the southwest of the county seat and was built in the Ming Dynasty. And the ancient Great Wall, which is famous at home and abroad.
