Xue Manzi's father, Xue Zizheng, took part in the revolution in 1925, and then went to the Soviet Union's Fulongzhi Military Academy to study military affairs. 1949, he served as secretary-general of Beijing Municipal Committee, deputy mayor, deputy director of State Economic Commission and deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee. He assisted in the negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in Chongqing, and his father's name was also on the memorial tablet of Zeng Jiayan Zhou Mansion, a famous revolutionary shrine in Chongqing.
