Professor Li Shuan was born in 1952, and his native place is Shaanxi. 1963 began to learn painting. 1978 graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and studied under Zhan Jianjun, Wen and Teacher. He is currently teaching in the Fine Arts Department of Beijing Film Academy, a member of China Artists Association and vice chairman of China Radio, Film and Television Artists Association.

Professor Li Shuan has been engaged in art education in the Fine Arts Department of Beijing Film Academy for 28 years, which can be said to have trained many art talents and film and television artists. Zhang Yimou, Han Gang, Jianqi Huo and other internationally renowned film and television directors are all students he personally taught. In August, 2006, he was selected by Beijing Film Academy to study at the University of Minnesota in the United States, and obtained the certificate of completion issued by the University of Minnesota.
