Brief introduction of Shanghai Yue Theatre
Shanghai Yue Theatre is a well-known national opera house at home and abroad. Its predecessor was the State-run East China Yue Opera Experimental Troupe, which was formed by the merger of some members of the former Student Troupe and Yunhua Troupe. Founded in April of 1950, it belongs to the Ministry of Culture of East China Military and Political Commission. 195 1 In March, after the troupe was merged into East China Opera Research Institute, it absorbed the members of Dongshan Yue Opera Society and became a group of East China Yue Opera Experimental Troupe. At the beginning of 1954, the Yue Opera Troupe, a cultural and art troupe of the General Political Department of the Central Military Commission, which was affiliated to the East China Opera Research Institute, was named the second group of the East China Yue Opera Experimental Troupe. 1in March, 955, the East China Grand Administrative Region was abolished and the East China Opera Research Institute was closed. Two Yue Opera Troupes and some art cadres affiliated to our college established the Shanghai Yue Theatre, with Ms. Yuan Xuefen as the first president and now the honorary president. Li Li, the current president, Zhang Qun, secretary of the General Party Branch, and Xu Hu, artistic director. The theater consists of one group (male and female co-performance), two groups (women's Yueju Opera, also known as the Red Chamber Troupe), an artistic creation research center and a business office.
