Among the four men, Jia Yulin has the leading role in crime, and Xu Fengjie, Gui Chuanyong and Zhao Mingjun obey his arrangement and command; In June 2006, Xu Fengjie was arrested in Guangdong Province, and Gui Chuanyong was sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment for other crimes. Since then, Jia Yulin and Zhao Mingjun have continued to commit crimes with impunity.
Four people with different backgrounds, all in Yunyang County, Chongqing, have a common hobby, which brings them together. Jia Yulin gangs lured a woman named Zhou Hua (a pseudonym) to a rental house by selling gambling cheating tools, kidnapped her and extorted 600,000 yuan. On August 22, 2007, the police in Wanzhou District received an alarm that a hair salon attendant was kidnapped and the kidnapper demanded a ransom of 60,000 yuan. The police investigated the account number of the kidnapper's receiving bank and found that the owner of the account, Wang, was also kidnapped. On August 26th, Jia Yulin killed the hostages after receiving a ransom of 35,000 yuan.
On September 3, 2007, the police in Wanzhou District received a report that an Yi Zhan woman had been kidnapped. After investigation, the police found the vehicles of Jia Yulin and other criminals. Chasing all the way, Jia Yulin and others abandoned the car and fled. The police rescued Xia Zhan and another woman from the car and took Jia Yulin's lost identity card not far away.
On October 27th, 2007, Jia Yulin was arrested. At this time, all the gang members were arrested except Zhao Mingjun who escaped.
