1937, the Japanese fleet in China concentrated in Wusongkou, Shanghai, in an attempt to open the Jiangyin battery route. China's Navy Minister Chen Shaokuan destroyed all the lighthouses along the Yangtze River route and set up a blockade with sunken ships and rubble. However, the Japanese army has absolute air and sea control rights. Hundreds of joint fleet sorties attacked the China naval fleet without air defense capability, and the flagship Pinghai of China Navy was badly damaged and Ninghai sank.
After the sinking of Ninghai, Chen, commander of the First Fleet, transferred the headquarters to the gunboat Yixian, but Yixian was also sunk soon. Chen transferred the headquarters to the transport ship Ding 'an. Not long after the war began, all the main warships of the First Fleet were sunk. Subsequently, the main force of Zeng's second fleet was all sunk soon. 108 jiangyin battle, all the main forces of the Chinese fleet were sunk. The rest of the gunboats and small ships were ordered by the Admiralty to sink into the Yangtze River, which prevented the Japanese main force from breaking through the westward advance of the Yangtze River, directly shattered the Japanese army's wild talk of destroying China in three months, and also covered the safe transfer of the developed factories and government agencies in South China. The sacrifice of the heroic navy of China is enormous.
Sink the Izumo?
After losing all the capital ships, the naval battle continued. At that time, the flagship of the Japanese navy in China was Izumo, an armored ship with a displacement of 10,000 tons. Although the speed was not high, it was powerful. It was equipped with four 203mm main guns with a caliber of 45 times, which was already an unattainable cannon for the China Navy at that time. You know, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the artillery caliber of Chongqing, the largest warship owned by China, is not as good as that of this old ship.
Izumo has been operating in the coastal areas of China for 32 years. In order to attack Izumo, China's army planned many attacks, which sank Izumo and hit the morale of the Japanese army. Wang Yaqiao, known as the first killer in the Republic of China, sent two warriors with mines to Izumo under the cover of the army. Although the mine was installed at the bottom of Izumo, the exploded mine failed to kill Izumo effectively due to the current in the Yangtze River estuary.
Since then, China Air Force 2nd Brigade 2 1 bombers have carried out air strikes on Izumo. However, on the day of the air raid, due to the sudden change of weather and low visibility, three bombers successfully dropped bombs, but none of them hit Izumo. Since then, China's Air Force has repeatedly bombed the clouds, with no results. However, it is rumored that the 904 aircraft driven by Shen Chonghai was directly hit by Izumo due to engine failure, which proved to be a modified version to boost morale, and Izumo is still intact.
