Zhou Mingzhen (191865438+1October 9-199665438+1October 4), a vertebrate paleontologist, is the father of dinosaur research in China. 1943 graduated from the Department of Geology of Chongqing University (now Chengdu University of Technology) and obtained a master's degree from the University of Miami, USA. 1950 received a doctorate in biology from lihai university, USA. He has taught and studied in Chongqing University, Taiwan Geological Survey, Shandong University and Nankai University. He used to be the director of Institute of vertebrate paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the vice chairman of International Paleontology Association (IPA), the researcher of Institute of Human Origin (USA), the chairman of chinese association of natural science museums, and the vice chairman of China Veterinary Society.

He is also a professor at Peking University, Nanjing University, China Geo University and China University of Science and Technology, an honorary professor at Northwest University, the curator of Beijing Museum of Natural History and the honorary curator of Zigong Dinosaur Museum in Sichuan. He used to be vice chairman of the International Society of Paleontology, chairman of the Chinese Society of Paleontology, chairman of the vertebrate paleontology Society, chairman of chinese association of natural science museums, deputy director of the Quaternary Geology and Glacier Society of China, honorary member of the vertebrate paleontology Society of the United States, foreign member of the Moscow Association of Natural History Museums, and honorary researcher of the American Institute of Human Origin.
