Huawei 2011announced on the evening of May 9 that it signed a contract with Everything Everywhere (EE), the largest mobile operator in the UK, to upgrade the GSM 2G network of EE in the UK. This is Huawei's first large-scale wireless network contract in the UK. The contract is valid for four years.

Huawei entered the UK in 20001and moved its office to basingstoke, a town in the northeast of Hampshire, England in 2003. It has about 500 employees, 75% of whom are recruited locally. Last month, Huawei said it planned to double the number of employees in Britain in the next three years.
