According to historical records, in the early years of the People's Republic of China, Taizu Lu Guang came to Liangzhou, Gansu Province with Kumarajiva, a monk from the Western Regions, and Kumarajiva stayed in Liangzhou, Gansu Province for 17 years, propagating Buddhism and learning Chinese. After Qin Hongzhi entered Chang 'an in three years (40 1), he translated Prajna Sutra, Goblet of Fire, Vimalakīrti Sutra and Amitabha with his disciples in eleven years (409). A total of 94 volumes and 425 volumes of classics have been translated, among which "Three Theories" (Zhong Lun, Twelve Theories and Hundred Schools of Thought) are the main basis. Achievement theory is the main foundation of achievement school; Hokkekyo is the main basis of Tiantai Sect; Amitabha Sutra is one of the "Three Classics" that Pure Land Sect relies on.
Kumarajiva is a world-famous thinker, Buddhist, philosopher and translator, and the ancestor of eight schools of Buddhism in China. His achievements in translating scriptures and Buddhism are unparalleled. The famous disciples are Daosheng, Daorong and the old monk, collectively known as the "Four Saints of Shimen".
