Li (602-670), aged 68, was an outstanding astronomer, mathematician and Taoist scholar in the Tang Dynasty, who was proficient in astronomy, calendar and the theory of Yin and Yang. The TuiBei Map written by Li and Yuan Tiangang is famous for its accurate prediction. Li is the first person in wind classification in the world. Li has been smart and studious since childhood, reading widely, especially proficient in astronomy, calendar and mathematics.
His father Li Bo served as a local official in the Sui Dynasty. "I abandoned my official position because of my frustration, and became a Taoist priest." Li Bo "is quite learned, named himself Huang Guanzi, annotated Laozi, and wrote ten volumes of local chronicles", and wrote Ode to Astronomy. These undoubtedly had an important influence on Li Yisheng's academic orientation. The Book of Old Tang Dynasty said that Li was "young and handsome, with a rich collection of books, especially the Yin and Yang studies in Tomorrow's Literature Education".
