1983 graduated from Shanghai medical university with a bachelor's degree in medicine; 1986 graduated from Sun Yat-sen University's supplementary class; 1997 obtained the medical doctor's degree from Xi 'an Medical University; 1998-2000 Engaged in postdoctoral research in Institute of Genetics, China Academy of Sciences, and participated in the research work of China 1% of the international human genome project and rice genome project. From 2000 to 2003, he conducted cooperative research at the University of Cincinnati.
