2. Handan is a prefecture-level city in Hebei Province, which was approved by the State Council as the central city in the south of Hebei Province, China. As of 20 19, the whole city has six districts, 1/county,1county-level city, with a total area of 12073.8 square kilometers and a permanent population of 9,549,700, including 5,553,600 urban residents, with urbanization rate.

Handan is located at the southern tip of Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, bordering Taihang Mountain in the west, North China Plain in the east and Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan provinces. It is the hub of Shanxi, Shandong and Henan provinces, the center of the Central Plains Economic Zone and an important transportation hub in North China.
