Quyuan Management Zone, a national modern agricultural demonstration zone, is located on the vast Dongting Lake, surrounded by the beautiful Miluo River and Xiangjiang River. It was named after the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan who died in the river here. The predecessor of Quyuan Management Area was 1958, a large state-owned farm built for reclamation, which was established with the approval of Hunan Provincial People's Government in 2000. Quyuan Administrative District, as an agency of Yueyang Municipal People's Government, has fully exercised the management functions of the people's government at the county level. It has jurisdiction over two towns, one township and one street office, with a total area of 2 18 square kilometers and a population of120,000. It is an important production and processing base of grain, pigs, feed, special aquatic products and meat products in Hunan Province, and has the reputation of "land of fish and rice", "land of feed" and "land of breeding". It is a key county (district) for the construction of pig advantage industry in Hunan Province, a national agricultural reclamation modern agriculture demonstration zone, a national pollution-free agricultural product demonstration base farm, a national pig standardization demonstration county (district), a national aquatic healthy breeding demonstration community, and a key demonstration county for the mechanization technology of rice breeding and transplanting in Hunan Province. Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan two-oriented society lakeside demonstration zone, the only urban-rural integrated employment demonstration zone in Hunan Province, the national agricultural science and technology park and the national agricultural comprehensive standardization demonstration zone.
Quyuan Administrative District has jurisdiction over 2 towns (Yingtian Town and Heshi Town), 1 township (Fenghuang Township) and 1 sub-district office (Tianwen Sub-district Office), 62 villages and 8 neighborhood committees.
Qu Yuan Management Area is located at the intersection of Xiangjiang River and Miluo River into East Dongting Lake. It is located at11255 ′ ~134 ′ east longitude and 28 47 ′ 30 ″ ~ 29 08 ′ north latitude. Miluo City in the east, Xiangyin County in the south and Xiangjiang River in the west; Arrive at Dongting Lake in the north. The regional east-west span is19.25km, and the north-south span is 20.75km.. The total land area is 20 1.365 square kilometers.
Qu Yuan Management Area is located on the east bank of Dongting Lake and at the end of Miluo River. Miluo in the east, Xiangyin in the south, Yuanjiang City in Xiangjiang River in the west and Dongting Lake waters in the north. Land and water transportation is very convenient. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, National Highway 107 and Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway can cross Miluo via provincial highway S307. 1.5 hours to Changsha, the provincial capital, and Yueyang, the famous city. Waterways can lead to the sea, and the upstream can reach Changsha, Xiangtan, Zhuzhou and Chongqing. Downbound can reach Yueyang, Wuhan, Shanghai, Nanjing and other important city ports. It is a waterway transportation hub of Pingjiang, Miluo, Xiangyin, Changde and Yiyang, with a total highway mileage of 452.029 kilometers. A highway network with five verticals and three horizontals has basically taken shape.
From May, 2065438 to May, 2006, the Ministry of Agriculture designated Quyuan Management Area as the first designated county (city, district), which basically realized the mechanization of the whole production process of major crops.
There are tourist attractions such as Wuling Mountain National Forest Trail near Quyuan Management Area, and there are Hunan cuisine, Hunan black pig, Hunan white pig, Hunan snacks, Hunan characteristic culture and other special foods.
