Ganling is the burial tomb of Tang Gaozong Li Zhi and Wu Zetian. It was built in the first year of Tang Guangzhai (684) and the second year of Shenlong (706). Adopting the construction method of "taking the mountain as the mausoleum", the mausoleum area is modeled after the capital Chang 'an. In addition to the main tomb, there are seventeen small tombs buried in Ganling with other royal family members and heroes.
Ganling is the best preserved of the eighteen tombs in the Tang Dynasty, and it is also the only tomb in the Tang Dynasty that has not been excavated. 196 1 On March 4th, Ganling was announced by the State Council as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
There are 17 buried tombs in Ganling. 1960~ 197 1 year, five tombs including Princess Yongtai, Prince Edward, Prince Yide, Zhongshu Xue and Yan Guogong were excavated successively, and more than 4,300 precious cultural relics were unearthed.
Among them, there are more than 65,438+000 colorful tomb murals, which can be called a magnificent art gallery in ancient China. Murals such as Ma Qiutu, Hakka, Watching Birds and Catching Cicadas, Hunting and Ritual are not only helpful to the study of paintings in the Tang Dynasty, but also to the study of architecture, costumes, customs, sports activities, court life and foreign affairs in the Tang Dynasty.
