Calligrapher Wang Duo, a native of Jinmeng, Henan, is from Hongtong County, Pingyang, Shanxi.

Wang Duo, whose name is Juesi, is also known as Shiqiao, Qian and Qia. He is not a fisherman in Yantan. Painters in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. His calligraphy is as famous as Dong Qichang's, and he is known as the "King of East, South and North". In the second year of tomorrow, promoted by examiner Yuan Keli, he entered imperial academy, Jishi Shu, and was appointed as the minister of does. In the sixteenth year of Chongzhen, Wang Duo was a college student in Dongge. In the seventeenth year of Chongzhen (1644, the first year of Qing Shunzhi), after the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, he was awarded a bachelor's degree in Shangshu and Guanhong Academy of Literature, plus a young prince, and died in his hometown in the ninth year of Qing Shunzhi. He was buried in Luohe, Gongyi, Henan at the age of 61.

Major achievements

Wang Duo pursues "two kings" in calligraphy, especially Wang Xianzhi. In addition, he extensively dabbled in Wei, Jin, Tang and Song dynasties, and made the most in-depth study of Ge Tie, which was unique. His calligraphy is unique and is known as "Wang Duo". His calligraphy is as famous as Dong Qichang's, and he is known as "the king of South, East and North" in the late Ming Dynasty. His calligraphy is unconventional and relaxed, but it is full of free and easy and vigorous flowing. Wang Duo is good at cursive writing, and his brushwork is atmospheric, vigorous, free and easy, dripping with fun. His ink has been handed down from generation to generation, and many calligraphy posts, letters and inscriptions have stone carvings, the most famous of which are Zhushan Garden Post and Langhuating Post. His calligraphy is very popular in Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries. Wang Duo's calligraphy is very appreciated by the Japanese, so it developed into a genre called "Ming and Qing Tunes". His "Zhuan Shan Yuan Tie" was introduced to Japan and caused a sensation. It listed Wang Duo as a first-class calligrapher, saying that "the former king (Wang Duo) prevailed over the former king (Wang Xizhi)".
