Xu Ning is a character in Water Margin, nicknamed Golden Gunner, and a trainer in Tokyo. He was originally a teacher in the Imperial Golden Gun Class, and was good at using the hook and sickle gun. Later, his cousin Tang Long made a fortune in Liangshan and broke his fortune. Liangshan ranked 18th in Juyi, and was a star. He was the second of the eight generals of ancient Ma Jun, a pioneer, guarding the dry villages in the east. When Fang La was recruited, he was shot by a medicine arrow in Hangzhou, and eventually died in Xiuzhou, hunting for Zhong Wulang.
