In 20 16, Yin Xiyue led the investigation of former South Korean President park geun-hye, and also arrested park geun-hye confidant Cui Shunshi and Samsung Electronics Vice President Lee Jae-yong and others; In 20 17, Yin Xiyue became the director of the Central District Prosecutor's Office in Seoul, and during his tenure, he also led the investigation of the bribery case of former President Lee Myung-bak; In 20 19, Yin Xiyue was appointed as the chief procurator of the Grand Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Procuratorate of Korea.
However, due to the intensification of the conflict with Qiu Meiai, then Minister of Justice, Yin Xiyue resigned from the post of Attorney General in March 20021. At the end of June, 20021,Yin Xiyue resigned as the procurator-general and entered the political arena, just over eight months before he was elected president. This also makes Yin Xiyue the first president without parliamentary experience since South Korea's direct election.

As the commander-in-chief of the three armed forces and other heads of state, Yin Xiyue officially has the authority and sovereignty given to the president by law. On the morning of May 1 Sunday local time 1 1, the inauguration ceremony of the 20th President of South Korea was held in the National Assembly Hall of Seoul. Yin Xiyue was formally sworn in and delivered a speech.
