Pan Yinlin was born in Shanghai, 1947, and studied under Mr. Wang Renyi, Nie Er's violin teacher. Pan Yinlin 1957 was admitted to the primary school affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and 1966 graduated with honors from Shangyin High School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. 1969, when Pan Yinlin was 22 years old, he was elected as the orchestra leader by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra! Since 1984, Pan Yinlin has been the chief conductor of Japanese Yomiuri Orchestra, Australian Song and Dance Theatre and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra for nearly 20 years, which is the first time for China people to be the chief conductor of foreign symphony orchestras. In August, 2003, Pan Yinlin returned to Shanghai Symphony Orchestra after 23 years' absence. Rich experience has created Pan Yinlin's profound performance skills, and his performance is famous for its beautiful timbre: the high notes are bright and transparent, the low notes are deep and warm, and the sound areas are smoothly connected, which often fascinates the audience.
