Formerly known as Chunzhi, whose real name is Lanting, also known as Lingsheng, Binsheng, posthumous title, and later Huang, whose real names are Baishishan, Baishi, Baishi Weng, Laoping, Mujushi, a descendant of the former residence of the Tang Dynasty, borrowed the owner of the pavilion, sent it to the old man in Pingtang, and a rich man with three hundred lithographs. My ancestral home is Dangshan, Suzhou, Anhui, and my ancestral home is Xiangtan, Changsha, Hunan.

He worked as a carpenter in his early years, then made a living by selling paintings, and settled in Beijing after he was 57. Qi Baishi is good at poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing. Chinese painting is good at flowers and birds, insects and fish (especially ink shrimp), landscapes and figures. His works are simple in artistic conception and full of interest. Seal cutting is full of reality and danger. Calligrapher is an official of seal script. Gu Zhuo is unrestrained and simple, and his calligraphy is natural.
He used to be honorary professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts and chairman of China Artists Association. He is the author of "Bai Shi Shi Hua" and "Bai Shi Old Man's Self-report".
1953 was awarded the title of People's Artist by the Ministry of Culture; 1956 In April, the World Peace Council awarded him 1955 International Peace Prize; In 1963, he was elected as a world cultural celebrity by the World Peace Council.
