After Confucius, there appeared two heavyweights in Confucianism, namely, the Asian sage Mencius and Xunzi at the end of the Warring States Period. Although they are both representatives of Confucianism, some viewpoints of Mencius and Xunzi are different, even quite different. Mencius advocated the theory of good nature, while Xunzi advocated the theory of evil nature. These two views have caused controversy for thousands of years.
In addition, it is puzzling that since Xunzi is a representative figure of Confucianism, why should he train two legalist disciples, Han Feizi and Li Si? It is clearly recorded in Historical Records: "Han Fei, the son of Han, is also involved in Li Si, who thinks he is not as good as Han Fei." In other words, both of them are disciples of Xunzi, which is beyond doubt.
Han Feizi was born in a noble family in Korea. When he was young, he was very idealistic and ambitious. He was quite anxious when he saw that weak South Korea was often bullied by other vassal states. He used what he learned in life to offer many tricks to the monarch, but what he got was a hot face and a cold ass. The expression of legalist thought can be seen everywhere in his works, such as "abolishing the teaching of the former king and taking law as teaching"
There are always swift horses, but Bole doesn't. Hanwang was short-sighted and ignored everything Han Feizi advised. After reading Han Feizi's works, Ying Zheng, a brilliant and talented king of Qin, was so excited that he couldn't help sighing: "I have to watch this man swim with him, and I won't hate him even if I die." It can be seen that Han Feizi's talent and charm are far behind.
Then, in order to get the wizard, the king of Qin did not hesitate to send Daqin fighters to force Hanwang to hand over everything he had done. Korean king has no intention of reusing everything that Han Feizi has done. Besides, Enemy at the Gates, it is undoubtedly a hot potato to keep him, which directly makes everything that Qin has done. Li Si, a fellow disciple, knew that he was inferior to Han Feizi in ability. If he is valued, Li Si can't get along.
Therefore, Yao Jia, co-minister of Reese, spoke ill of Han Feizi many times in front of the king of Qin, but once or twice he was fine. After a long time, the king of Qin became suspicious of Han Feizi and put him in prison. Reese took the opportunity to poison Hanfeizi with poison, and a generation of wizards died like this. Objectively speaking, Li Si's talent is also good. At the same time, like Han Feizi, he advocated "the study of punishment and magic" Most of the harsh laws of the Qin Dynasty were written by Li Si.
Analyzing Xunzi again, although he inherited Confucianism, he also had original opinions and studied other theories, including Legalism. In "Xunzi Zheng Lun", he wrote: "Punishment is based on crime, and it is chaotic if you don't call it crime." Therefore, it can be boldly speculated that when he taught Han Feizi and Lisi knowledge, he did not let them learn Confucianism, but preferred the skills of legalists and emperors, so Lisi and Han Feizi became practitioners of legalists.
