The origin of "Jingchu"?
Hubei belongs to Jingchu, which is well known to the world, but most people know it but don't know why. Most people know "Chu", but as for why it is called "Jingchu" together with "Jing", everyone thinks that the name of "Jing" of "Chu" originated from avoiding the taboo of Zhuang Bochu, the father of Qin Shihuang, and got its name (see Justice: Qin taboo Chu, changed Jing). In fact, the state of Jing is the predecessor of Chu. According to Tongzhi Genealogy, "Jing used to be called in Chu, which was also accepted by the families before Chu." In the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, Xiong Yi, the former monarch of Chu State, was sealed in Jingshan area (now Baokang Nanzhang, Hubei Province), with the title of Beijing. "Jing" was originally the name of a shrub, also known as "Chu", which is very common in the forests of Jianghan Basin in the south and can be used for firewood and other purposes. Therefore, Xu Shen's Shuo Wen Jie Zi in the Eastern Han Dynasty explained Jing: "Chu Mu was also punished." Chu Shi: "The leaves of a bush are a Ye Jing." In addition, Tang Kong Yingda's Spring and Autumn Justice and Zuo Zhuan said: "Jing and Chu are two, so I think the name of the country will also be." Shen Songkuo's "Meng Qian Bi Tan" also said: "Jing is Chu, and Chu is also an alias." At this point, Jingchu has become an established practice, and it has become a unique title of Chu nationality, Chu state and Jingchu area.
