Watercress green is native to Venezuela. Like warm and humid semi-cloudy environment, not tolerant to cold, strong light and drought.
1. Matrix: I like to grow in loose and fertile sandy soil with good drainage and rich humus, but I have poor growth potential in clay.
2. Lighting: I like semi-cloudy or scattered lighting. I need a little shade in all seasons except winter, especially in summer.
3. Temperature: I like a warm environment, and the temperature suitable for growth is between 20-30℃. It is best to keep the overwintering temperature above 10℃, stop growing below 10℃, and be vulnerable to freezing below 5℃.
4. Humidity: I like the humid growing environment, where I grow luxuriantly and the leaves are brightly colored. When the temperature is high or the air is dry, I will strengthen the water spraying on the leaves or in the growing environment to maintain a high air humidity, which is extremely beneficial to the growth of plants.
5. Watering: I prefer water, but I am not tolerant of drought. Frequent watering is needed during the growing period. When the temperature is higher than 25℃ or the air is dry, I need to water more, but I also need to prevent waterlogging. When the temperature is below 25℃, I need to thoroughly water the surface of the basin soil when it is dry. When the temperature is below 10℃, I can endure drying for several days without watering.
6. Fertilization: When the temperature is higher than 18℃, a small amount of fertilization is needed. When the temperature is lower than 18℃ or higher than 30℃, it is advisable to apply less or no chemical fertilizer. It is best to apply fertilizer several times, and it is best to use diluted fertilizer solution instead of clear water for irrigation, which is not tolerant of raw fertilizer and concentrated fertilizer and is easy to cause fertilizer damage.
7. Pruning propagation: when the height of newly propagated seedlings is about 10 cm, topping should be carried out to increase the number of branches, so as to make the plant shape fuller and have higher ornamental value. Pruning of large plants generally depends on growth. Short branches and long branches can be used as cutting materials and are easy to take root. They can be inserted into clean river sand or vermiculite, or directly into sand.
8. There are few green diseases and insect pests of watercress, and the common diseases are caused by improper nursing and environmental discomfort, which can be gradually recovered after adjustment.
