Duan Suquan's resume
As we all know; When the People's Liberation Army awarded the titles from 65438 to 0955, many factors were considered in the evaluation, including everyone's qualifications, moral character, achievements and revolutionary achievements in different historical periods, so as to strive for fairness and justice.

However, there were more than a thousand officials involved in the evaluation at that time, and the number of ranks at all levels was limited, so it was impossible to satisfy everyone.

One of them was a "rather dissatisfied" general-Duan Suquan. When he was awarded the rank, he was rated as a "temporary major general", but he couldn't get through it for a while. He was so excited that he tore off his epaulettes in public.

According to 1952 cadre assessment standard, Duan Suquan was already at the level of paramilitary corps. In this case, in 1955, Duan Suquan is expected to be rated as Lieutenant General.

So, what was the reason why Duan Suquan was finally appointed as a "temporary major general"?

This has to start with 1934. The Red Sixth Regiment was ordered to leave the Hunan-Jiangxi revolutionary base and start the Western Expedition. From 1934 to 10, Liu Hongjun joined forces with the Red Army. However, at that time, the conditions in the Soviet area in the Sichuan-Guizhou border region were very difficult, and the Red Army was surrounded and pursued by the enemy forces in Hunan, Guizhou and Sichuan.

In order to preserve its strength, the Red Army decided to advance to Xiangxi. Ren et al. called and asked him to lead an independent regiment 1000 people (including 300 wounded soldiers) to cooperate with the Red Army's eastward advance and hold off and block the enemy for more than 20 days.

At that time, this team had only one heavy machine gun and two light machine guns. The whole regiment was equipped with only 300 guns, each rifle had only three to five bullets, and the rest were only broadswords and pike.

/kloc-Duan Suquan, 0/8 years old, knew that the task was very arduous and full of difficulties, but he still did not flinch and replied to the head to ensure the completion of the task.

Later, Duan Suquan, Wang Guangze and others met six regiments chasing the enemy in Fan Jingshan. In the fierce fighting for more than 20 days, the Red Army under the command of Duan Suquan fought bloody battles in the smoke and war, which won extremely valuable time for the transfer of large troops.

Later, with the shrinking of the enemy encirclement, the situation fell into an extremely bad state, and Duan Suquan and Wang Guangze had to order a breakthrough.

In the process of breaking through, Duan Suquan was unfortunately hit by a stray bullet in his ankle and his bone was broken, so he could not move on.

In desperation, the army had to put him in a local home instead of saying goodbye in tears. At that time, if he stayed, the enemy would inevitably go door to door, and he would be found later, and the possibility of living was slim.

Later, when Wang Guangze led the army to continue to break through, he was ambushed by the enemy. In the fierce battle, most soldiers died heroically, and only a few people finally escaped.

Because of the war years, the information was blocked, and most of the independent regiment soldiers died heroically. After learning of the tragic situation that the independent regiment was besieged on the way to the Long March, the head of the army also held a memorial service for Duan Suquan and others.

However, no one expected that Duan Suquan would miraculously "come back to life" after more than three years.

When Duan Suquan was injured, he had a high fever because the wound was inflamed. Although the enemy finally found out that he was going to shoot, he didn't want to waste bullets and left him to fend for himself in the grass.

Later, due to the desperate care of local poor households such as Li Mufu, Duan Suquan finally saved the day and survived again.

After the wound healed a little, Duan Suquan quickly fled the dangerous place with crutches, impatient all the way. Duan Suquan's wound got worse again, his left toe rotted, and his feet could not walk for a time, so he had to crawl on the ground.

Soon, Duan Suquan's father found a beggar's son on his birthday, took him home and married his wife, hoping that he could have a good life at home.

However, Duan Suquan, who is bent on returning to the team, always finds it difficult to live at home. 1937, as soon as he heard that the Red Army was changed to the Eighth Route Army, he immediately left home and rushed to northern Shaanxi, and finally found an old leader.

Although Duan Suquan finally returned to the team after going through all kinds of hardships, it is still difficult to draw conclusions about his history after leaving the organization for more than three years. Under the circumstances at that time, people who left the organization and disappeared probably defected and defected. Therefore, this matter, in the ranking evaluation of 1955, also has a certain impact on Duan Suquan himself.

Although he was a temporary major general at that time, the rank of major general eventually accompanied him all his life and never changed.

Because he didn't agree with this title, Duan Suquan seldom wore a military uniform with epaulettes. Even when he died, he wore a Chinese tunic suit, not the military uniform that his soldiers had been wearing all their lives.

1On September 28th, 993, Duan Suquan died of cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 78. At the memorial service, Ren's wife said with emotion:

"On the way to the Long March, we held a memorial service for Comrade Duan Suquan. Later, he didn't die, dragged his broken foot, begged all the way and climbed back to the army. He was then the political commissar of the independent division. Alas, he has suffered a lot in his life ... "
