He is currently the director of orthopedics of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a professor of orthopedics and traumatology at Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a doctoral supervisor. Vice Chairman of the Professional Committee of Spine Arthropathy of China Geriatrics Association; Standing Committee of Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Association; Standing Committee of Spinal Surgery Branch of Guangdong Medical Association; Deputy Director of Orthopedic Branch of Guangdong Medical Association; Standing Committee of Perioperative Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; Member of Guangdong and Guangzhou cadre health care expert group; Director of the 5th China Orthopedic Society; Director of Joint Surgery Branch of the 5th China Orthopedic Society; He is the leader of the national key specialty of spine disease in traditional Chinese medicine, and an heir to the academic experience of old Chinese medicine.

He has been engaged in clinical work in orthopedics for more than 20 years, and devoted himself to the comprehensive treatment of degenerative diseases of spine and joint diseases with Chinese and Western medicine. He has high attainments and rich clinical experience in the comprehensive treatment of difficult and severe diseases in the perioperative period of cervical and lumbar vertebrae and in giving full play to the characteristics and advantages of traditional Chinese medicine. He studied under Professor Shi Yangshan, a descendant of Shi's traumatology, Professor Bo Zhiyun, the founder of Bo's abdominal acupuncture, and Professor Bo Zhiyun, the founder of balance acupuncture. In-depth study on the pathogenesis, TCM syndrome characteristics and modern medical diagnosis and treatment methods of cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis. For the first time, large-angle traction in supine position was used to treat cervical spondylotic radiculopathy in middle-aged and elderly people, multi-position traction was used to treat lumbar disc herniation, and three-point acupuncture was used to treat acute low back and leg pain, which achieved remarkable results.

Enthusiastic about academics, actively participated in various academic conferences and exchanges in China, and was invited to give lectures and exchanges in medical institutions in Europe, America, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. It enjoys a high reputation in academic circles at home and abroad.

Over the past few years, more than 10 graduate students have been trained. At present, Director Lin Dingkun has presided over or participated in more than six scientific research projects 16, among which "Tenth Five-Year Plan" and "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" projects have won two prizes for scientific and technological progress of traditional Chinese medicine in Guangzhou, which have been published in national and provincial professional magazines.
