At 4: 30 pm, the negative excavation of the nuclear island in the first phase of the project began with a blast in the main plant area of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station, which marked that Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station entered the preparation stage of the main project after 20 years of preparation and preliminary work. Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, attended the groundbreaking ceremony and announced the official commencement of the negative excavation of the nuclear island in the first phase of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station. He started the commencement button together with Zhong Yangsheng, Executive Vice Governor, Huang Longyun, Yu He, General Manager of the Group Company, Chen Xiaochuan, Secretary of Yangjiang Municipal Committee, and Zhao Jianguo, General Manager of China Southern Power Grid Corporation. At the ceremony, Executive Vice Governor of Zhongyang Province, Mayor Lin and General Manager of Yangjiang City delivered speeches respectively.
