Fang Shiyu's ancestral home is Fangjia Village, Dinghu Luo Yin, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. His father Fang De was a silk merchant, born to Fang De and his second wife Miao Cuihua. There are two brothers, Fang Meiyu, born to his first wife, Li, who died very early.
