He has been engaged in the theoretical research and practice of hydraulic geotechnical engineering for a long time, especially the high earth-rock dam project. He presided over and participated in the "Eighth Five-Year Plan" and "Ninth Five-Year Plan" national key scientific and technological project "Theoretical research on design and calculation of high earth-rock dams". He put forward a series of suggestions to improve the numerical analysis method of earth-rock dams, developed and gradually improved the finite element forward and backward analysis software (TSDA) for static and dynamic safety analysis of earth-rock dams, and applied it to Tianshengqiao, Sanbanxi, Pubugou, Shuibuya, Bakun and Shuangjiangkou. Presided over the structural safety review and analysis of most high earth-rock dams over 200m under construction and proposed in the world; It creatively solved the safety problems that plagued the Mao Ping dam and made important contributions to the construction of the Three Gorges Project.

During my work, I have taught courses such as hydraulic structure, finite element of earth-rock dam and earthquake engineering of earth-rock dam, published many papers and instructed many graduate students.
