Yulin is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province, located in the northernmost part of Shaanxi Province, bordering the Yellow River in the east, Ningxia and Gansu in the west, Inner Mongolia in the north and Yan 'an in the south. It has jurisdiction over 1 city, 2 districts and 9 counties, 155 townships, 29 sub-district offices and 2,967 administrative villages, with a registered population of 3,858,900.

Yulin area is 385 kilometers long from east to west and 263 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total land area of 42,920.2 square kilometers.
