2. The "International Student Exchange Program" began after the Second World War. Its main purpose is to strengthen exchanges between different countries in the world, enhance understanding, cultural exchanges and academic exchanges between countries, and promote friendly exchanges between countries. At present, students from more than 60 countries and regions around the world participate in exchange programs every year to exchange students with each other. The State Council officially approved China to join the International Student Exchange Program 1995. Its content is to recruit outstanding students from China to study in American high schools every year.
