This exhibition is jointly launched by Jianghan Guan Museum and Jiangmen Museum in Guangdong. The exhibition is divided into three parts: overseas Chinese passport in Qing Dynasty, overseas Chinese passport in Republic of China and overseas Chinese license in People's Republic of China (PRC) (China). Exhibit cultural relics 1 15 pieces (sets), and systematically display the original overseas Chinese passports (alien cards) issued by Chinese consulates (embassies) in more than ten countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Panama, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Cuba, South Africa, Myanmar and Vietnam at different times.
Gao Donghui, deputy director of Jiangmen Museum, said that from the Qin and Han Dynasties, China people began to cross the ocean and go to the world. Overseas Chinese are carriers and disseminators of Chinese culture. Through the exhibition, the audience can also deepen their understanding of the "Belt and Road" initiative and further understand the history of China's diplomacy, overseas Chinese and international immigrants.
Jiangmen, also known as Wuyi, is located in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province and is known as "the first hometown of overseas Chinese in China". There are many sites in the territory, such as Kaiping Diaolou and Taishan Dazhou Bay Site, which have witnessed the exchanges and circulation between China and foreign countries. The theme of "Protect the World-Overseas Chinese Passports Exhibition" is Overseas Chinese Passports, which have been issued by successive governments in China since the late Qing Dynasty to prove the nationality of overseas Chinese during their international travel and life abroad. Through physical display and knowledge introduction, the historical features of overseas Chinese passports and the development process of overseas Chinese policy system are reproduced, which truly reflects the spirit of overseas Chinese going abroad and fighting bravely, as well as the glorious course of overseas Chinese actively integrating into the mainstream society of the host country, paying attention to maintaining Chinese national characteristics and integrating different national cultures. Last July, "Protecting the World-Overseas Chinese Passport Exhibition" met the audience for the first time at the Capital Museum. This trip to Wuhan is the second stop of the exhibition's national tour.
Julie of Jianghan Pass Museum pointed out that Jianghan Pass Museum is an urban museum with the theme of modern urban development in Wuhan. Wuhan's opening to the outside world is a major theme of museum collection, cultural relics research and exhibition planning. A "passport issued by Huang Dedao of Jianghan Customs in 189 1 year" was exhibited in the basic exhibition of Chaozong in Jianghan, which was the identity certificate issued by local officials in Hankou to missionaries in China at that time. The launch of "Protect the World-Overseas Chinese Passport Exhibition" not only enriches the contents of museum exhibitions through exchange exhibitions, but also hopes to make the general public pay attention to cultural relics related to Chinese and foreign exchanges through this exhibition.
It is reported that "Protecting the World-Overseas Chinese Passport Exhibition" will continue to be exhibited in Jianghan Pass Museum until April 24, and the audience can watch the exhibition for free.
