Xu Weiqiang worked in Inner Mongolia Forestry General Hospital for 5 years. After five years of work accumulation, he mastered all the surgical skills and accumulated solid surgical skills, which triggered his thinking about plastic surgery.
After that, he devoted himself to the research of plastic surgery, studied in the First Military Medical University (now Southern Medical University) and continued to accumulate experience in plastic surgery. The First Military Medical University is a gathering place and an export place for talents in plastic surgery. Many doctors and experts from public and private hospitals come from this place. Xu Weiqiang honored it as "the Whampoa Military Academy in plastic surgery", which was recognized by the industry and has been used ever since.
After further study in the First Military Medical University, Xu Weiqiang successfully replanted a severed wrist for a Burmese sailor on 1992, which became the first successful operation of replanting a severed limb in Panyu at that time. According to media reports such as Guangzhou Daily and Nanfang Daily, his reputation as an out-and-out plastic surgeon spread like wildfire. Since then, he has been invited to South Korea, Japan, and the United States for academic exchanges and technical guidance, and published papers such as Correcting Mandibular Angle Hypertrophy with Osteotomy Clamp via Oral Approach and Prosthetic Rhinoplasty Skills, which have attracted the attention and respect of colleagues at home and abroad.
