Nie Li (1930.09 ~), former deputy director and secretary general of the Science and Technology Committee of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, is now a consultant of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the first female lieutenant general in China. Originally from Jiangjin, Chongqing,/kloc-0 was born in Shanghai in September, 1930. From 65438 to 0947, he entered Rong Zhen Children's Primary School (now Beijing Bayi Middle School). 1948 entered North China Yucai Middle School (later merged with Beiping Normal University Girls' Middle School). Joined China 1950 in March. 1953 graduated from high school and was admitted to the Soviet Union preparatory class in the second year. 1960 graduated from Leningrad Institute of Precision Machinery and Optical Instruments. After returning to China, he was assigned to work in the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of National Defense of China People's Liberation Army as a technician and project leader. 1965- 1977 served as the director of thirteen instrument rooms in the First Hospital of the Seventh Machinery Department. 1978 to 1982 served as deputy director of the science and technology department of the Ministry of national defense. 1982 to 1985 served as deputy director and secretary general of the science and technology Committee of the commission of science, technology and industry for national defense. 1988, she was awarded the rank of major general. On July 24th, 1993, she was promoted to Lieutenant General. She is the highest ranking female among the five female generals in China, becoming the first female lieutenant general in the world. Vice Chairman of the 6th and 7th All-China Women's Federation, and deputy to the 7th and 8th National People's Congress.
