The navy coast guard is a naval unit deployed in important coastal areas and participates in coastal defense operations with firepower. In order to ensure the navigation safety of ships in the Arctic waters (especially the northern route), the Soviet Union also established the naval coastal defense force of the White Sea Fleet. The navy cooperates with the army to guard many coastal landing sites and naval bases threatened by land enemies for a long time.
