Grade point is a method to evaluate academic performance, which is commonly used in most universities in China: grade point = score/10-5, credit grade point = credit * grade point = credit * (score/10-5) (if the score is above 90, it will be calculated as 90).

The grade point system is one of the important supporting measures to implement the credit system. Since 1985 China began to advocate the implementation of the credit system, people have discussed and studied the credit system more, lacking the discussion of the grade point system, thus affecting the smooth implementation of the credit system. This paper analyzes and studies many common problems existing in the process of adopting the GPA system in domestic universities, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures on the basis of comparing it with the GPA system implemented in American universities.
