Introduction to the painter: Zhou Chen, a famous professional painter in China in the middle of Ming Dynasty. He was born from Chenghua to Jiajing, and the year of birth and death is unknown. The word Shunqing, Wu (now Suzhou, Jiangsu Province) was born in Dongcun, with an unknown date of birth, and died in the 14th year of Jiajing, Sejong of the Ming Dynasty (i.e. 1535). He is good at drawing figures and landscapes, and his painting method is rigorous and meticulous. He has two famous students, one is Tang Yin, the other is Chou Ying, Tang Yin, and Linger you, Chou Ying. Their styles are close, but their fame has surpassed that of their teachers at that time.
Zhou Chen studied landscape from Chen Xian. He has assiduously copied the works of Li Cheng, Guo, Wang Yi and others. , and mainly borrowed from Li Tang school. Painting rocks with strokes is firm, disciplined and skilled. Once with Dai Jin, they each have their own strengths. The figure painting is also excellent, with peculiar appearance, dense density and different meanings. Chai Men Farewell Picture, Zhou Chen's masterpiece collected in Nanjing Museum, depicts the scene that the host and guest are reluctant to part after visiting friends with a piano. The bright moon has already hung in the sky, and the boatman has been sleeping at the bow until the guests are about to board. He hasn't come yet, which shows that the host and guest have a long farewell time and deep friendship, including Zhou Chen's "Academy Painting" and "Literati Painting". Zhou Chen is called a non-academic painter.
