1982 was awarded the Doctor of Science degree by China University of Science and Technology in May. His tutor was Academician Chen Xiru, and then he stayed at school.
1988 was promoted to professor, and 1990 served as doctoral supervisor.
1994 was elected as a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
He used to be the executive director of China Probability and Statistics Society, the deputy editor of China Statistics, the international core journal, and the editorial board of Statistics, Journal of Applied Mathematics and Applied Probability and Statistics.
At the invitation of famous statisticians Professor P. R. Krishnaiah and Professor C. R. Rao, he taught at the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University for four and a half years, visited many famous universities in the United States and Canada, and visited the Institute of Statistics of Academia Sinica in Taiwan three times, as well as the Department of Mathematics of the University of Brasilia and the Department of Statistics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
