Sunrise means the east. Dan is red, formerly known as Anton, which means to stabilize the East.

Later, the country may find this name unfavorable. Because of its relationship with North Korea, 1965 was renamed Dandong.

(1) Dandong city formerly known as "Anton city". The name "Anton" originated from the "Anton Shelter" established in the first year of Emperor Taizong Zhang (AD 668).

(2) It is intended to appease the peace of the East or the East. In the second year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1876), Anton County (now Shahe) was established first.
