1977, after the resumption of the college entrance examination and postgraduate examination, Peng Yun passed the postgraduate examination of Computing Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences with excellent results. Subsequently, he passed the first batch of public school students and went to the United States, where he studied at Wayne State University in Michigan and University of Maryland successively, and obtained master's and doctor's degrees. Now he lives in the United States and is a tenured professor of computer science at the University of Maryland.
