Wang hai. Wang Hai initiated commercial trade. Over time, people call businessmen engaged in trade activities "businessmen", goods used for exchange as "commodities" and occupations engaged by businessmen as "commerce", which has become the source of business vocabulary today.

Mianchen, the tribal leader of Yi nationality, saw the wealth and killed Wang Hai. After the establishment of Shang Dynasty, Wanghai Temple was honored as the ancestor of Shang Dynasty, and was called "the ancestor of Shang Dynasty looked at the sea" and "the ancestor of Gao Wang" in Oracle Bone Inscriptions of Yin Ruins. People respectfully call Wang Hai "the ancestor of China merchants" and "the God of Wealth in Zhong Bin".

Wang Hai's influence: From the unearthed Oracle bone inscriptions, we can see that Wang Hai, his son Wei (known as Shang Jia Wei in history, or Oracle bone inscriptions) and Tang, the founder of Shang Dynasty, are more valued by later generations.

Shang Jiawei was valued because he was the son of Wang Hai, and because he was the first ancestor named after Ten Tiangan in Shang Dynasty. Moreover, Wang Hai's position is much higher than Shang Jiawei's. In the eyes of Shang people, Wang Hai had great power. Shang people sometimes even worshipped Wang Hai with the etiquette of offering sacrifices to heaven.
