The atmospheric scientific observation mission of floating objects is an important part of the "peak mission" of China's second comprehensive scientific expedition to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Yao Tandong, the leader of the second Qinghai-Tibet expedition and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that this observation is a combination of high technology and cutting-edge science, and has entered an advanced mode of scientific observation. This is the first time in the world that the variation characteristics of key parameters of earth science, such as water vapor and greenhouse gases, have been observed in the Everest region and beyond 9000 meters above sea level. Yao Tandong said that these achievements will certainly make scientific contributions to our country and mankind, as well as to the development of human society and the global response to climate change.

Upright expedition team consists of 63 expedition members from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Space, Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics, and No.8 Institute of CLP.

Mimu- 1 III floating boat is independently developed by Aerospace Research Institute of China Academy of Sciences. This is the second time that the observation altitude of Polar Eye-1 Upright, which was developed by the National Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 20 19, reached 7003 meters above sea level, setting a new world record for the scientific observation altitude of Upright in Qinghai-Tibet Scientific Research Institute. This time, the technical difficulty, height and load type of the polar-eye-1 type III floating boat platform, which is carrying out tasks in the Everest area, are unprecedented among the known plateau mooring floating boats.

It is reported that the challenge observation height of Mimu- 1 III floating boat is 9000 meters above sea level, which is full of difficulties.

First of all, in the environment of low temperature, low pressure and high wind speed at an altitude of 9000 meters, there are strict requirements for the reliability of the mooring floating ship platform system.

Secondly, the hull material of mooring floating ship is a kind of lightweight, low density, high strength and radiation-resistant composite fabric material independently developed by China. The first application in the harsh environmental conditions of Mount Everest is of great scientific research and engineering application significance.

Thirdly, the stability of the hull, control system, energy system and mooring system of the moored floating ship is greatly tested under the complex electromagnetic environment of 9000 meters above sea level, low temperature, low air pressure and high wind speed. Designers answered these questions effectively from the technical point of view and field test, and handed over satisfactory answers.

According to the scientific research plan, the research team will seize the favorable scientific observation window, obtain more observation data, and actively pursue greater scientific research success.
