[Introduction to Resume] How to add points to your resume for non-work experience?
For most students, they don't have rich internship experience, so the experience outside work becomes very important. For HR, this is the only basis for them to judge whether the candidate is suitable for the position on the resume.

Some students may ask, I didn't seem to do anything except play Tik Tok and see my little brother and sister in college. I can't write these experiences, can I?

Because many students' experiences in college are too extensive, let me define them first, including: 1. Off-campus institutions initiated or participated by student organizations; 2. Events and activities organized or participated in.

The ability that can best be proved by the experience outside work is leadership and organizational ability, which is very important in any job. Whether it is a student organization or an activity, if you are the sponsor, it basically shows that you are a person with certain leadership and organizational skills. If you are a small leader of a well-known organization (such as "the head of a volunteer group" and "the initiator of XX activities"), or a leader of a smaller organization, such as "founder", "initiator" and "vice chairman", remember to include these experiences in your resume, which may make you stand out and help you get the job opportunities you want.

In addition, if you are applying for a foreign company or an internet company, I suggest you write down your activities outside of work as much as possible, because compared with state-owned enterprises, foreign companies and internet companies pay more attention to the comprehensive quality of candidates, and these experiences become more important.

So how should these experiences be written? Mainly follow three principles:

1. Simplicity principle

Experience outside work is generally complicated, so the content length must not be too long. 1-3' s activity experience is enough to reflect the ability of job seekers. Like other experience parts, we must grasp the key points and highlight the leadership and organizational skills. Try not to write short-term, trivial and unimportant experiences such as "attending a forum for two days and one week".

2. Relevance principle

Another important principle is to give priority to the experience related to the position you are applying for. If you are applying for a position in investment banking or finance, you can write that you have participated in large-scale activities on behalf of financial students' organizations, but it is not recommended to write that you have founded the first astronomical society in the school because the correlation is too low (unless this organization has some achievements worth showing off).

3. The principle of accuracy

Describe the experience in detail and accurately, write down the background, process and results of this experience clearly, and show your ability more clearly through quantitative results.

Abbey will give two examples below to illustrate:

1. Experience of non-profit organizations

General writing:

Participate in xxx club as a volunteer and offer love to the children.

2. Event experience

General writing:

Participate in the XXX Global Risk Management Competition as the captain and lead the team into the top three in Beijing Division.

What should I do if I have no experience in working outside?

Not everyone has joined a bunch of clubs or started an activity or organization with some friends. Maybe you're not interested in these. If you have previous internship experience and your resume is long enough (basically one page can be filled in), you can skip or delete this section.

What should I do if my resume is blank without any activity experience or internship experience?

I strongly suggest that you join an organization, participate in an activity, or even set up an organization to take the lead in launching a large-scale activity, which will not only make your resume look better, but also be a good opportunity to exercise yourself. Good job opportunities may appear in these activities ~
