Seventy Miles Around the City is a story about four boys in their last semester before graduation, which is based on the life of students in Nanjing Foreign Languages School. The name of the film "Seventy Miles Around the City" is also named after the tradition that foreign students began to walk around the city in the 1970s. Last summer, the film was filmed in Nanwai Xianlin Campus. Teachers such as Diao Shuying, Ma Huaibin and Tian Junbin, Nanjing Daily reporters such as Hans Zhang Zhi and Zeng Jingyi and hundreds of students participated in the filming. Shen Yifei, a teacher in the school's foreign affairs office, also voiced the English teacher in the film.
"I am a graduate of the 86th German-Japanese class of Nanjing Foreign Languages School. Our first walk around the city was in the spring of 1983, initiated and organized by the head teacher Qian Tiefeng (now the president of Nanjing Foreign Languages School Xianlin Branch). " At the screening site, director Mu Dan told the reason why he chose to shoot Nanwai Xianlin. "Nanwai Xianlin Campus is my imaginary school, which fully gives students free space."
