Why did Zhang kill his wife?
Zhang killed his wife.

1September, 936, Zhang, the head of the 74th Kuomintang Division 1 13, led a delegation to attack the Soviet area in northern Shaanxi with Hu Zongnan and lived in An. One day, Zhang's friend and a head of the brothers group returned to Ann after visiting relatives. Zhang Zongling asked him, "Have you seen my wife?" A friend joked with him and said, "Yes, at the gate of the cinema, your wife is wearing a cheongsam and there is a young man in a suit and tie. They can make out. " After listening to this, Zhang flew into a rage and fidgeted for several days. Really can't stand the blow of rumors, he asked Hu Zongnan for leave to go home, and when he was done, he wore a spear to get home. My wife is very happy to see her long-lost husband, and she is more and more radiant after dressing up. Seeing the evil lewdness in his wife's eyes, Zhang said to her, "I haven't eaten jiaozi for a long time. Please give me a meal. " His wife went to the garden to cut leeks, followed by Zhang. As soon as his wife squatted down, he took out his gun and pointed it at the back of her head. His wife died immediately after she fell. Zhang didn't do anything about the body and immediately returned to the army.

When the news that Zhang shot his wife came out, women from all walks of life expressed great indignation and signed a letter to the Minister of Women's Affairs of China, demanding that the murderer be severely punished. When Chiang Kai-shek heard this, he flew into a rage and ordered Hu Zongnan to escort Zhang to Nanking. Hu Zongnan had no choice but to report the situation to the capital, and Chiang Kai-shek put him in a model prison, claiming that he would be punished after the trial.

1937, 10, in Chungking, Chiang Kai-shek secretly released unforgivable Zhang at the entreaties of Hu Zongnan and Wang. In order to hide people's eyes and ears, Zhang changed his name to Zhang.

Zhang was so grateful that he raised his fist and vowed to fight bravely for the ultimate victory of the party and the country.

Zhang's suspicion of killing his wife

At night, in Nanjing Tiger Bridge Model Prison, there was silence, and the prisoners had turned off the lights and fell asleep. On the long corridor, there was the sound of the jailer "Toto" shoes. The heavy footsteps didn't stop until they came to a special cell. A huge flashlight in the jailer's hand suddenly lit up in the dark and took a rude photo of the prisoner who had fallen asleep in his cell.

This is a cell for special prisoners, which is full of prisoners on death row. Their names have been put in another book for execution. The bright beam of light caused a commotion among the prisoners. These death row inmates know that there is an established practice in prison. Whenever a prisoner is about to be executed, the jailer usually goes to death row the night before, turns on the flashlight and sweeps the prisoners' faces one by one, as if to show his identity. If the flashlight stays in someone's face for a long time, it means that this unlucky guy will be on his way the next day.

"Whenever this time most annoys me. If you die, you will only die. This is really not solemn. " A condemned man who once stayed in this prison, after surviving for about ten years, privately talked to his new wife about the darkest days of his life.

This person who is still talking about dignity in death row is Zhang who was convicted of killing his wife.

Long before Zhang graduated from middle school, his father told him about his marriage to Xing, a girl from a neighboring village. Xing and Zhang are hardworking and simple rural girls in the same year, but she is illiterate and uneducated. Zhang has always been very filial to his father. After joining the army, he occasionally went home to visit relatives. He also slept with his father to show affection. At that time, he didn't openly disobey his father. But he is studying abroad and seems unwilling to take the initiative to marry his father. After Zhang left home, he knew nothing about Xing for many years.

A pair of young men and women with no emotional foundation and different academic qualifications were fixed by their parents' orders, which was very common in those days. Many times, a cup of bitter wine is brewed between the parties, and even some great men are embarrassed when they are young. This kind of marriage tragedy between Zhang Xing and his wife has not left the brand of a specific era.

Zhang's wife is from Guangyuan, Sichuan. Her father is a famous coppersmith in Guangyuan county, and his family is well-off. Wu Hailan studies in a local girls' school. In those days, girls in small counties rarely received formal education. Wu Hailan is an educated and beautiful girl from Sichuan. In Guangyuan, a small place, it is more eye-catching and has a high vision.

Compared with ordinary drunken Kuomintang officers, Zhang still cherishes feathers and is quite self-disciplined in his private life, which is quite similar to his future boss Wang. Many years after Zhang's death, some officers of the former 74th Division who stayed in the mainland published their memoirs in relevant literature and history materials. When it comes to Zhang's character, it is said that he is generous, arty and lewd, and he is hell to pay for the military corruption. Once, the head of the art troupe of his division abducted someone else's wife and was reported. He immediately ordered the execution and beheaded the public after verification, which was quite bloody. ( 1)

However, this cold-blooded soldier is usually like a Confucian. In my spare time, I like reading ancient books, practicing calligraphy and writing lyrics in the camp. My hobbies are collecting antique calligraphy and painting, photography and gardening. It seems that he still retains the legacy of scholars in the history department of Peking University, which is quite different from the image of Zhang that ordinary people get from literary works. However, Zhang is a professional soldier after all, and his other hobbies have nothing to do with elegance. Zhang likes equestrian, and his superb riding skills are famous in the army. Once, 1 division got a batch of new war horses. One of them was so violent that no one would let him get on. So someone called Zhang. He pulled up the reins and rode for three spans and two laps before subduing the horse. He not only loves riding, but also loves horse addiction. He keeps horses almost as pets. Later, when he became a commander, he ran to the stable every three days and personally supervised the breeding. This happened when he was a colonel. Once, one of his beloved horses got pneumonia, and the veterinarian was helpless. When Zhang saw his beloved horse panting for death, he felt so sad that he couldn't help crying when he touched his mane. It is said that the horse is also crying at its owner, one person and one horse. (2)

Zhang Cai was 30 years old. Reading, writing and riding horses do not necessarily mean that he is willing to abstain from sex. It's just that the army is a man's world, and his whereabouts are uncertain during the war. In addition, his introverted and unsmiling personality is always daunting. Even if there is a woman, people dare not look at him with bedroom eyes. When a friend saw it, he knew that a marriage in his hometown existed in name only, and a good Samaritan set him up with a new person.

An officer friend introduced him to Wu Hailan. Wu Hailan is young, educated and as beautiful as flowers and jade. Zhang is very satisfied with this. Wu Hailan, a female student, was moved by the handsome young head of the Central Army. You are affectionate and I am interested, and they soon fall in love, and the next thing is simple. Zhang is a soldier's temper, and he pays attention to quick decisions. Besides, the troops may leave at any time, and there is not so much stress about the acid. Soon, he married Wu Hailan in Guangyuan, which was his first wedding, and the time was about 1933 winter.

It turned out that after Zhang got married, their marriage was quite happy. Wu Hailan is beautiful, virtuous and capable. This Sichuan girl can also be a good cook like a northerner. Zhang comes from the northwest and likes pasta. Wu Hailan's craftsmanship is very much to his taste. The young couple play the piano and sing harmoniously and have deep feelings. Soon, their daughter Zhang Yunfang was born, and the family was happy, which made friends and colleagues in the army envious.

Since they are a loving and happy couple, how could Zhang Can Fu Ling kill this beautiful woman in a rage?

There are many versions of Zhang's wife-killing case, but the basic plot is similar: Zhang mistakenly believed rumors, suspected that his beloved wife was unfaithful, was jealous, and drew a gun without asking indiscriminately, which led to a sensational "wife-killing case in Gucheng" in An.

Among the authors of many editions, Wu may be the only one who has had contact with Zhang. Wu Yutian, formerly known as Wu Yuan, served in the 74th Military Department during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. 1984, he published the article "Zhang I know" in the literature and history of Shaanxi Province, in which he talked about all kinds of rumors about the wife-killing case he had heard.

Wu Ritian wrote in the article:

"1935 After the Red Army arrived in the northwest, the first army followed the trail to fight against the Red Army. The families of the First Army all live in Xi 'an. Zhang's wife lives with her children (less than three years old) and the families of other officers. He suddenly learned that his wife was having an affair at the front, so he came to Xi 'an during the Spring Festival holiday and returned to Huxian for his wife and children. On New Year's Eve, he ordered his wife to cut leeks in the backyard vegetable field to make jiaozi. Just as his wife bent down to cut leeks, he took out a pistol and shot her from behind (at that time, he said that this incident was caused by Zhang's colleague Colonel Yang joking, and the colonel went to visit relatives in An, and then chatted with Zhang after returning to the army. When talking about the family situation in An, he said that one day he saw Zhang's wife shopping with a man, and Zhang was suspicious and cruel, so he believed it and died). (3)

Because the above-mentioned author worked with Zhang in the same army, the rumors he heard were accepted by many authors and believed to be the blueprint for others to write the incident later.

The chapter "Zhang" in the Biography of Senior Generals of the Republic of China describes this matter like this:

"However, Zhang is a very ruthless person, and his jealousy is famous among his colleagues. One day, I saw a colleague of Zhang visiting relatives and returning to the army. He asked, "Have you seen my wife? "My colleague jokingly said," Yes, at the gate of the cinema, your wife is wearing a cheongsam. There is also a young man, two people in suits and ties can be said to be close. "Zhang is a very serious person. When he heard that his wife was "unfaithful", he was so angry that he couldn't even speak. He was depressed for several days, and his temper became more and more rude, scolding everyone he met. He thought it was an unbearable shame. But directly filing for divorce is afraid of becoming the laughing stock of colleagues. Later, he asked Hu Zongnan for leave and went home with a pistol. He tried to restrain his feelings and said to his wife, "I haven't eaten jiaozi for a long time. Please pack me a jiaozi. " After hearing this, the wife went to the vegetable field to cut leeks. Zhang followed closely, and when his wife just squatted down to cut leeks, she pulled out her pistol and shot her in the back of the head, and her wife fell to the ground. After he shot his wife, he returned to the army without making a sound or burying the body. ”(4)

The above plot is obviously based on Wu Yutian's version, but the plot is more dramatic.

It is true that Zhang asked for leave from the team in the winter of 1935. As for the theory that he deliberately went back with a gun to kill his wife, it is natural. When he asked for leave, everything was as usual. At that time, he had just come down from Songpan Plateau and went home to visit relatives on holiday.

As Zhang has been attacking the Red Army at the front, he settled his wife and daughter in Ann. At that time, Zhang's cousin lived in his home at No.27 Anlianshou. This is a big yard with two entrances. Living in the backyard, the neighbors in the front yard are a pair of Li sisters.

Zhang went back to his hometown to visit relatives, first went to Ann's cousin's house and stayed with him for a few days. A little parting is better than a wedding. At the beginning, the young couple were inseparable. They go shopping and eat together during the day and go out to the theatre at night, which is very happy and sweet.

"After my fifth uncle returned to Xi 'an, he lived in my uncle's house. At that time, he came back and had a good relationship with Wu Hailan. They often go out to play and take me to Yi Sushe to see a play. I still remember that the play I saw that night was called Han Baoying, which told the story of Han Baoying saving Shi Dakai. "Zhang's nephew, Zhang, a teenager, is studying in an elementary school. He still clearly remembers what happened a few days before and after the incident: "One night, the husband and wife had an argument for some reason. My fifth uncle lost his temper and my uncle came out to mediate. The next day, Uncle Wu and Wu Hailan returned to their hometown in the countryside, and then the tragedy happened. The day after the incident, he returned to our residence in Xi 'an. I remember that I went out to school that day and met him on the way. He walked home alone. When he got home, he burned Wu Hailan's clothes, and then my uncle scolded him. " (5)

What happened when Zhang returned to his hometown in the countryside? The author once asked Zhang Juli, Zhang's eldest son, to verify the plot described in the above article.

Mr. Zhang Juli said: "I was not born when this happened. What I know is what my mother said. As far as I know, the two of them were talking in their backyard, not in the vegetable field. My mother is not far from the scene, but she doesn't know what they are talking about. Later, I heard a gunshot, and my mother turned and ran away in fear, without seeing what was going on. Because of the sudden incident, my mother was at the scene, but she didn't know much about the situation or the reason for the shooting. As for the legend of outsiders who are not present, I can't comment. The so-called cutting leek and wrapping jiaozi is obviously making up a story. It happens in winter, in Shaanxi in winter. Where does leek grow? . "He then added:" To be honest, some things are legendary. In fact, it is difficult to explain why you want to shoot and what is inside. " (6)

It seems that only Zhang can make it clear. Ten years later, his last wife, Wang Yuling, heard about the case. Wang Yuling, who was only eighteen years old at that time, stupidly asked her husband, "What would you do with me if I had a boyfriend outside?"

Zhang was moved by her naive new wife's early sadness, and she was in distress situation. She just looked at her and shook her head with a wry smile, but she didn't speak.

"I was really naive." Wang Yuling said, "I also said to him,' If this happens to me, you can do whatever you want, and our family will not sue you'. He didn't explain, just hugged me silently. Later, he said to me,' She took my things, and I asked her if she would die. We had an argument the night before the incident, and I was very unhappy. The next day, I took my children back to Chang 'an countryside by carriage. On my way home from Xi 'an, I always pass my mother's grave. She knows that every time I go home, I have to get off there and go home after worshipping at my mother's grave. She used to be with me. Of course I was angry when she refused that day. I got even angrier when I came home and asked her something and didn't answer ...' "(7)

So far, this is probably the only sentence we can learn from the person closest to the customer. He said it himself.

Zhang didn't want to say much or explain what he had taken from him, which made him furious. It was not until many years after Zhang's death that he had a close personal relationship with him. Liu Guangyu (8), who had worked under him for a long time, happened to talk to Wang Yuling about it. At the beginning, there was an amazing sentence: "She stole a new document."

Liu Guangyu tells another little-known story about killing his wife.

It turned out that Zhang upset the jealousy jar not because he suspected an affair, but because he found that she took his military officer's card without authorization, but he could not explain the reason, so he suspected that his wife might be used and was furious. As mentioned earlier, at that time, Hu Zongnan's troops had been fighting fiercely with the Red Fourth Army in Sichuan-Shaanxi area, and there were also * * * underground organizations in the local area. Zhang was suspicious, worried that his wife might have touched the edge of * * *, but it was inconvenient to say anything before things were clear, so he secretly questioned his wife, only to keep silent about it, which made him flustered and more and more suspicious of what his wife had done behind her back. If this matter is changed by others, there may still be room to reverse Gan Kun. It happened that Zhang, who had just returned home from the front line of a bloody battle, was still filled with a murderous look that would be emitted at any time. His personality does not allow "betrayal", and he cannot accept the suspicion that Wu Hailan may be a communist. He was extremely angry at his wife's "betrayal" behavior. On that day, an evil fire was smoldering in his heart, and his extreme self-esteem and cold blood suddenly expanded to the extreme. (9)

Wu Hailan was killed by her husband's gun. Because he suspected that this matter was related to communist party, Zhang was afraid that it would be hard to argue after it happened, so he said it was an emotional entanglement. This is another version of Zhang's wife-killing case, which is the origin of the so-called theory that Zhang killed his wife after Wuqi. In connection with the fact that Zhang was later sentenced lightly and his close relationship with him, this statement seems unfounded.

However, whatever the reason, one thing is generally certain. Zhang's suspicion has never found conclusive evidence. However, death tells no tales, and it is too late for Zhang to regret it.

After the incident, Zhang did not return to 1 teacher immediately, and still stayed at Ann's cousin's house as if nothing had happened. One day, someone posted in Ann Daily to expose Zhang's murder of his wife. After reading it, he was very angry. He asked his relatives who were newspaper editors about the author's background and learned that it was related to the Li sisters in the front yard. As a neighbor in the front and back yard, Wu Hailan had frequent contacts with Li's sisters before his death, and the relationship was quite good. Her bizarre disappearance aroused their suspicion and got a little wind. The younger of the Li sisters fell in love with Zhou, Yang Hucheng's personal secretary. Zhou Jing often picks her up by car on weekends. After listening to Zhang, I feel that this matter is not simple. He thought that although it was aimed at him, there might be other sources behind it, or someone wanted to use this case to attack the reputation of the Central Army and embarrass Chiang Kai-shek. Now, he knew it was difficult to hide the population, and if he was caught, the consequences would be very bad. But the crime was done, and there was nothing he could do at that time, so he decided to go back to the army and take shelter before making plans.
