The appearance of Shi's genealogy indicates the revival of Shi's surname!
For a 2700-year-old family tree (wide angle)
Ming Jian cheng gang
The forum was closed on July 25th, 2005.
"Recently, many descendants of Shi surname at home and abroad called me, hoping to continue to write their own genealogy through this genealogy of Shi surname." Mr. Shi, an 85-year-old librarian of Jiangsu Literature and History Research Institute and a famous stele engraver, introduced to the author. At the same time, it shows a genealogy of Licheng, a Shishi in Wuwei. This genealogy can be traced back to Shijie, a famous minister of Wei in the Spring and Autumn Period, and finally to Shizu in Guangxu period. It has a history of 2700 years, more than 200 years earlier than Confucius' genealogy, and it is also very rare in the country. This genealogy has a great influence on Shi clan groups at home and abroad. Many people hope that Shi can find out the inheritance and migration history of his descendants through this genealogy.
Lost and recovered stone genealogy
The genealogy preserved in stone was reconstructed in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, and the early version was Tang Dynasty. This genealogy is a set of four volumes, numbered filial piety, courtesy, faith and righteousness, which records the marriage and address of the descendants of the Shi family in detail and is a relatively complete family history found at present.
1August 28th, 937, during the period of China and War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Japanese planes bombed Nanjing, and the Shi family prepared to flee. When they left, the Shi family didn't take anything valuable with them, but only some clothes and this genealogy, which shows that the whole family attached importance to genealogy at that time. 1947, when Shi was 27 years old, his grandfather held a family meeting and entrusted his genealogy to Shi.
After liberation, due to historical reasons, Shi was put in prison and his family tree was kept by his mother. During the Cultural Revolution, Shi was taken away by the rebels as the "four elders". I don't know if the rebels were careless on the road, or if they were dismissive of the genealogy, or for other reasons, this antique was left on the road and just picked up by an old man passing by. The old man was at a loss with a "heavenly book" like a city brick. At that time, some people said it was "four old" and burned it. But the old man couldn't bear to destroy it, so he carefully handed it over to the local street office and preserved it.
After the loss of genealogy, Shi has been troubled by dreams. In the meantime, he inquired in many ways, and he didn't know where to go from the street to the relevant departments of the district, city and province. Soon, he heard from an acquaintance in Shi Zhiban, Qinhuai District, Nanjing that the genealogy might be in Lifu Lane Sub-district Office. So he immediately went there to look for it. Wu Shuo in the office, this stone genealogy was found by an old man on the road during the Cultural Revolution. We saw it and found it very valuable. Instead of destroying it, we hid it in the top corner of the cupboard. Shi couldn't help crying when he saw his family tree for the rest of his life.
Migration in 2700
In this "Shi's Genealogy", which has been circulated for 88 generations, the author saw the portrait of Doctor Wei Shijie in the Spring and Autumn Period, with full facial contour and elegant image. So who is Shi Jie?
In Zuo Zhuan, written by Zuo Qiuming, the reporter found an article on the admonition of Shijie, the main idea of which was that Shijie gave an idea to ask him to "love his son". However, Wei Zhuanggong did not accept Shijie's advice and indulged him too much, which eventually led his son Zhou Xu to go astray and later caused civil strife in Weiguo.
The genealogy records the descendants of Shijie. When the genealogy was rebuilt in Guangxu period, Shi was not yet born. The genealogy only had the name of his ancestor, but the word "Xue" was written on it, and its rank was: "... learning at home, thriving in big threads ..."
According to this spectrum, Shi was originally from Wuwei, Gansu, and later one of his branches moved to Licheng (now Wuyuan, Jiangxi). During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Sun Laining, the 83rd generation of Shijie, was engaged in timber business and construction industry in the area of Zhonghua Road.
The "spiritual home" of Shi's descendants at home and abroad
After learning that the Shi family tree was backward, dozens of descendants of the Shi family visited the historian. They all said that they had never seen such a well-preserved family tree with such a long history. Taiwan Province Province, a family of more than 60,000 people, was surprised to see this genealogy, praising that the genealogy recorded in 2700 may be unique in the whole country and even in the world.
Shi Jingyi, a famous Hong Kong publisher, is also a descendant of Shijie. After reading the book in Nanjing, he was overjoyed. He said that this genealogy gives a very detailed account of the changes and migration of the Shi family in 2700, which provides a good condition for other descendants of the Shi family to continue to write genealogy, and expressed their willingness to pay hundreds of thousands of yuan for it. Shi didn't agree. He took out 10000 yuan to print "Extracted Genealogy of Shishi Licheng in Wuwei", and extracted the main part of the genealogy and sent it to some descendants of Shishi at home and abroad for free.
