Zhang Chenggong, a veteran, studied in Anhui Political and Legal Cadre School. He was originally the editor of Detective magazine of Anhui Provincial Public Security Department. In 2004, he was transferred to the Television Art Center of Nanjing Military Region (awarded the rank of senior colonel). Now he is a professional writer and screenwriter of the frontline art troupe of the Political Department of Nanjing Military Region, a director of Anhui Reportage Society and a member of Chinese Writers Association.

Up to now, more than 4 million words of reportage and novels have been published, and more than 50 episodes of film and television drama/kloc-0 have been published. There are novels such as Swimming in a Bitter Sea, True Color of Interpol, Black Ice, Black Hole, Black Fog (which has been adapted into TV series Fog in the Clouds), Tears of Heroes, Cyclone Storm, etc.
