Yang Hui's Mathematical Achievements
During the Southern Song Dynasty, Yang Hui wrote many works, all related to mathematics. Among them, there are nine chapters of algorithm detailed explanation, daily algorithm, background of multiplication and division, rapid multiplication and division by field and other books. Yang Hui summed up the algorithm theory according to the calculation of daily demand to help people calculate demand. It is worth mentioning that Yang Hui is the first person to arrange vertical and horizontal graphs in the world. He summed up the theoretical knowledge of laws and promoted the arithmetic process in the world, which has high practical significance. During Yang Hui's life, handicraft industry and commerce have developed greatly, and social economy has been improved. Meanwhile, businessmen and people need to use mathematical calculations. The social demand for arithmetic caught Yang Hui's attention.
In fact, in the embryonic period of capital economy, mathematicians summarized the daily calculation methods. In the late Tang Dynasty, some practical calculation books appeared, but in the Southern Song Dynasty, books such as Xiahou Yangshu Jing were lost. Subsequently, Yang Hui of the Southern Song Dynasty summed up a simpler and more convenient algorithm on the basis of summarizing the previous arithmetic. Therefore, when people mention Yang Hui's contribution to mathematics, they will also think of his improvement on multiplication and division operation technology, which makes the operation more convenient and simplified. It not only improves the operation speed, but also improves the accuracy.
Yang Hui's Contribution While summing up the achievements of mathematicians in the previous dynasty, Yang Hui also greatly innovated and developed mathematical technology and promoted the progress in the field of arithmetic in China. In the Northern Song Dynasty, an algorithm called addition appeared. After knowing the law, Yang Hui further improved the operation and application scope of addition. Yang Hui believes that although the incremental approach avoids trial operation to a certain extent.
Yang Hui's Mathematical Achievements
However, with the increase of bonus, the amount of calculation will not only increase, but also the correct rate is not high. In Yang Hui's book "Multiplication, Division and Changing into Treasure", he summed up some simple calculation rules, such as "the number returns to ten" and "the number is added from the top", which facilitated people's calculation problems.
Secondly, while improving arithmetic calculation, Yang Hui put forward some practical formulas. Based on the convenience of formulas, abacus technology came into being. So objectively speaking, Yang Hui promoted the arithmetic process and indirectly derived the product of abacus calculation.
Third, Yang Hui has a deep understanding of vertical and horizontal diagrams. In his book "Continuing Ancient Stories and Algorithms for Extracting Odds", he put forward the research records and algorithms of vertical and horizontal graphs. This book "Algorithm for Extracting Odds from Continuing Ancient Stories" has also become the earliest book in the world to conduct theoretical research on vertical and horizontal graphs. The vertical and horizontal picture is Yang Huiqi's name. Before Yang Hui, people called the vertical and horizontal maps the Rubik's Cube. Zheng Xuan, a mathematician in Han Dynasty, introduced the magic square in Yi Wei Zhu and Shu Shu Ji Jie. Therefore, the Rubik's Cube is endowed with mysterious colors. Yang Hui created many kinds of graphs in "The Algorithm of Discovering Odd from the Ancient", including the fourth-order vertical and horizontal graph, the Baizi graph, the "eight-gathering" graph and the "nine-gathering" graph.
In addition, Yang Hui's greatest contribution is the study of stacking. Piling is similar to arithmetic progression, but different from arithmetic progression, piling is aimed at the study of advanced arithmetic progression. Later, Yang Hui also summed up arithmetic progression's summation formula. Yang Hui's research results have greatly enriched the theory in the field of mathematics.
The Story of Yang Hui When Yang Hui was an official in Taizhou, once, looking out the window, Yang Hui planned to travel to Taizhou. It is a wonderful thing to appreciate the beautiful spring scenery and observe the people's feelings at the same time. Sitting in the sedan chair, Yang Hui was very happy to see the revival of all things in nature. He lifted the curtain of the sedan chair and was enjoying the spring scenery along the way when suddenly the sedan chair stopped.
Nine chapters on arithmetic appreciation
Yang Hui asked the guard why he stopped at once. The guard replied that there was a little boy squatting on the road ahead. Another bodyguard rushed forward, reprimanded the little boy and told him to make way quickly. The little boy was so absorbed in gesturing on the ground that he didn't listen to the guards' orders at all.
Later, Yang Hui got out of the sedan chair, came to the little boy, touched his head and asked him what he was doing. The little boy replied that this is an arithmetic problem assigned by the teacher and must be worked out before class in the afternoon. If your horse passes by here, it will destroy my calculation. Yang Hui saw that it was Nine palace map, so Yang Hui squatted on the ground and counted with the little boy. It was after noon that they could fill in nine squares, and the result was that 15 did not consider the horizontal, vertical and oblique addition. The little boy was very grateful to Yang Hui for his help, so he invited Yang Hui to his house for dinner.
When the little boy got home, his parents told him the reason. Because of his poor family, his parents have no extra money to teach the little boy. When the little boy was herding cattle, he secretly went to a private school to attend classes. Every day after coming home, he tries to recall what he heard today. After hearing this, Yang Hui gave the little boy's parents twelve taels of silver to let him go to a private school to study. In the afternoon, when Yang Hui took the little boy to a private school, the teacher and Yang Hui talked about math problems. After returning to China, Yang Hui often devoted himself to mathematical calculus and summed up Nine palace map's law, that is, "Nine sons are arranged obliquely, and the upper and lower sides are easy, and the left and right sides are multiphase and the four dimensions are prominent."
