Yuan died in Tianjin in 193 1 at the age of 42. There was no money at home for his funeral, or he helped his disciples and grandchildren collect money to help him. At the funeral, people from the gang, as well as monks, Taoist priests, nuns and lamas from Tianjin came to attend the funeral.
Yuan has four sons and three daughters, namely Yuan Jiaxuan, Jia Xiang and Jia Ji, and women Jia Hua, Jia Yi and Jia Cang, all of whom are intellectuals. Among them, Yuan and studying in the United States all achieved success, and both joined and settled in the United States. Yuan Jialiu later became a world-famous Chinese physicist. 1973, he visited China with his wife, Wu Jianxiong, an atomic physicist. Premier Zhou received them and said, "Your Yuan family has been making progress for generations!
