King Zhao of Zhou destroyed Chu in Hanshui, and his son Zhou Muwang made a Western Expedition. Why not get back at Chu?
Among the kings of the Western Zhou Dynasty, except the founding emperor Zhou Wuwang Ji Fa, only one person can be called a generation leader. He is Zhou Muwang Ji Man, who has been in office for the longest time and has been exploring the East and the West all his life. Even Guan Zhong once praised Qi Huangong for Zhou Muwang's historical achievements. However, there is a huge historical mystery in him. His father, King Zhao of Zhou, died in Hanshui on his way to Chu. After he ascended the throne, he did not attack Chu, but avenged his father Zhao Haoqi.

Zhou Muwang has been in power for 55 years, and he marched west for Kunlun and east for Xu Yi. During his tenure, he expanded his territory and made the rule of Zhou Dynasty more stable. As the fifth king of the Western Zhou Dynasty, Zhou Muwang only paid attention to the foreigners in the east and was basically loyal to the northwest. Waste clothes? Treat, that is, they can come to worship Zhou Wang in name. After all, the Zhou dynasty's rule was not yet stable, and they could not stand the ordeal of the canine tribe.

But in the Zhou Muwang period, he frequently sent troops to crusade against the remnants of Rong, and sent Xu Yi, who had defected frequently since the establishment of the Western Zhou Dynasty, back to his lair. Such a military commander and monarch can bear the revenge of killing his father and let Jingchu go? So why didn't Zhou Muwang avenge his father Zhao Haoqi? The root is not on Mu Wang. We need to go back to the time when Zhao Haoqi conquered Jingchu, or what was the real reason for his death in Hanshui?

It is said that King Zhao of Zhou made three missions to Jingchu. According to records, he visited the Hanshui River for the first time and met a big rhinoceros. Four years later, Zhao Haoqi did not personally go out, but sent Hijigong and Simbo to attack Jingchu. But this time, he met with natural disasters, raging winds and heavy losses for soldiers. For the third time, due to the loss of the sixth division on the way last time, King Zhao of Zhou decided to personally expedition to Jingchu. The expedition was very large, but this time, Zhao Haoqi was killed in Hanshui. As for the reason, there is no record in the history books.

Therefore, the following is a reasonable guess, divided into three points:

First of all, the weather problem

In 982 BC, when King Zhao of Zhou sent people to explore Jingchu for the second time, a series of abnormal things happened in Haojiang, the capital of Zhou. Rivers, wells, ponds and springs are all flooded, land and houses are rickety, and the sky is abnormal at night. At that time, people didn't understand it and thought it was because of the lack of kingcraft, but in our modern eyes, it was obviously an earthquake. The expedition, Zhou Zong's sixth division also all died on the banks of the Hanshui River. Therefore, in that era of frequent geographical activities, King Zhao of Zhou personally sent an envoy to Jingchu and arrived at the bank of the Hanshui River, which coincided with the arrival of natural disasters and the death of Zhao Haoqi.

Second, the opponent surrendered.

Let's suppose that if Jingchu killed King Zhao of Zhou and defeated Julian Waghann of Zhou, what would happen next? Of course, it is to gain momentum to expand the results and cover a large area! But what about reality? Jingchu did not make all the moves speculated above, but chose to surrender to Zhou. There is only one explanation. King Zhao of Zhou died of natural disasters, and Jing Chuping had been rebelled before that.

Third, the son did not retaliate.

The author analyzed in detail in front, after the death of King Zhao of Zhou, Ji Man was proclaimed as Zhou Muwang by his ministers. He did not mourn the death of Zhao Haoqi, so Ji Man was first enthroned. Sure enough, in the early days of Zhou Muwang's term, he basically never fought abroad, but focused on governing domestic rule. From this point of view, first, Zhou Muwang's foundation is unstable and it is not yet possible to fight in dispatch troops; Second, Jingchu surrendered without sending troops; Third, it was not Jingchu's fault that Zhao Haoqi died of natural disasters. So the idea of revenge is nonsense!
