Ningxia is located in the transition zone between the Loess Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau, with high terrain in the south and low terrain in the north. In terms of landform types, the loess landform eroded by flowing water is dominant in the south, and drought erosion and wind erosion are dominant in the middle and north, which is a part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau. There are steep mountains and widely distributed hills, alluvial plains formed by stratum subsidence and Yellow River alluvial, platforms and sand dunes. The complex and diverse surface morphology provides different conditions for economic development. According to the statistics at the beginning of 2004, hills account for 38%, plains for 26.8%, mountains for 65,438+05.8%, terraces for 65,438+07.6% and deserts for 65,438+0.8%.
