Alai's personal experience
Secondary normal school has become the highest institution of higher learning so far. I worked as a middle school teacher for nearly five years after graduation. He used to be the president and editor-in-chief of Chengdu Science Fiction World Magazine. Later, because of the "Retelling Myth" project, he devoted himself to writing a new book "King Gelsall" (published), so he resigned as the president. 1982 began to write poetry, and turned to novel writing in the middle and late 1980s. His main works include Leng Mo River, Blood of the Old Year, Silversmith in the Moonlight, Dust Settled, Empty Mountain, Long Geographic Prose, Stairs of the Earth, and Prose Collection, So Abundant. The dust settled,1998 was published by People's Literature Publishing House in March.

In 2000, Alai, who was only 4 1 year-old, won the fifth Mao Dun Literature Award for his novel The Dust Settled, becoming the youngest winner in the history of Mao Dun Literature Award. The judges believe that this novel has a unique perspective and "has rich Tibetan cultural connotations. A faint layer of magic color strengthens the opening and closing of artistic expression, and the language is light and charming, full of clever poetry, which shows the author's outstanding artistic talent. Liu Jianwei, a famous military writer, even affirmed that Roy would win the Nobel Prize in Literature with this book.

Fantastic childhood

Alai's resume usually says: Tibetan. Birthplace: Marcand County, commonly known as Situ, the land under the jurisdiction of the four chiefs.

Alai once proudly called himself a Tibetan writer who wrote in Chinese. Sometimes when it comes to race, Loy will say humorously: I am a distant hybrid.

Tibetan descent comes from his mother, and his father is the son of a Hui businessman doing business in Tibetan areas in northwest Sichuan. He was born and lived in Jiarong Tibetan village, which belongs to the upper reaches of Dadu River in Sichuan-Tibet Plateau. Tibetans here have lived a life of half grazing and half farming for generations.

When Roy was born, this remote Tibetan village named Matang was poor after the reform. Loy is the boss and has many younger brothers and sisters. Like all cottage children, he had to herd cattle and sheep barefoot on the hillside at the age of five or six.

The land is vast and quiet, the cattle and sheep are laid back, and the lonely Loy has rich feelings for nature. He said that he had talked to every tree and grass. Perhaps, the deep affection for nature was formed from then on. During the Cultural Revolution, when he reached school age, he studied in a village with only two or three school buildings. The national education at that time was to popularize Chinese in Tibet. In grade one or two, Alai was listening to gobbledygook in class. He couldn't understand what the teacher said. One day in grade three, he suddenly understood a Chinese sentence spoken by the teacher. This epiphany made Xiaolai feel extremely happy. He came into contact with language and culture.

After graduating from primary school, Alai insisted on wearing a hat to the nearest primary school to attend junior high school. Alai, a teenager, climbs mountains and walks more than 150 miles. He collected herbs and firewood all the way to raise books and tuition. Many children in the same village couldn't hold on any longer and went back to the mountains to herd cattle and sheep. But Loy stubbornly persisted. It's hot in Leng Xia in winter, and Loy walks alone on the mountain road. In Alai's early novels, there is a lonely and sensitive child and a school teacher's unpredictable and helpless expression, which can show the imprint of Alai's early life.

After finishing junior high school, Alai became an educated youth in his hometown and returned to the village. Like his parents, he works hard to get work points. After half a year, he became a migrant worker at a hydropower site. Because of a little knowledge, he was called by the leader of the engineering headquarters to learn to drive a tractor. Loy, who is short, has to put the board under his ass to grasp the steering wheel well.

Days with books

The college entrance examination has finally resumed, and Loy is looking forward to leaving the village. At that time, all his views on the outside world came from geological team members who had visited the village to explore forest resources. He naively believes that only geologists can go very far. When he volunteered, he only filled in a few geological schools, but fate only allowed him to attend a normal college in this state.

He first came to Marcand, where the state capital is located, and began a formal study of Chinese. Two years later, Alai also became a rural teacher who taught in Chinese. He was assigned to a hut more remote than his own village. How far is it? Alai recalled: It was a long bus ride, and then the road came to an end. Next, it will take three days to ride or walk over two snow-capped mountains with an altitude of more than 4000 meters. Loy stayed alone in a remote hut, and there was no road. Students have to go a long way to school, just like Alai's school when he was a child. Few students can go to school when the weather is bad. In the silent winter night and the long spring, Loy began to read a lot. This is the early 1980s. The book Alai was reading was brought back from Marcand, the state capital. Perhaps he has a good book margin. Faced with a large shelf of books, even if he knows nothing about this subject, the book he chooses is definitely one of the best. The first history book he read was Glory and Dreams, and the first novel was Hemingway's. Then I read Faulkner, Fitzgerald, Whitman, Nie Luda ... He didn't have much basis for traditional reading of Tibetan and Chinese culture, and he was not trained in writing. His expression was the natural exertion of natural ability. ...

A Zigan is a good teacher. His teaching is unique and effective, which is highly valued by the education system. He stayed in the mountain village school for less than a year and was transferred to Tongdao Road Middle School. The next year, he was transferred to the county middle school to teach history. Ah, this is a triple jump.

Poetry years

In the remote counties in the 1980s, a group of aspiring literary lovers often gathered, and the myth that literature changed fate was more likely to spread in small counties. Some of his colleagues and classmates write poems, others write newsletters. From time to time, I can invite them to dinner with a few dollars. One of Alai's teachers found Alai one day and said that there was a pen meeting in the county cultural center, which could eat for two days. Roy doesn't know what a pen club is. The teacher said that people who can write articles can communicate together. Come on, okay. The teacher said to hand in the homework first. That night, Roy wrote a poem and handed it in. What happened at the meeting was trivial, but Alai's poems were soon published in Tibetan Literature, which became the highest achievement of the pen club. So Loy began to write poems. He is 25 years old this year.

At that time, there were many schools of poetry in Sichuan. Poets from Chengdu, Chongqing, Xichang and Fuling wandered around and divided their sites. There are often masters of Beijing-Shanghai poetry who visit the pier in Sichuan, drinking and reciting poems, and the poetic events spread like classic stories. Loy's place is too remote and far away from the center of poetry. His quiet and introverted character is stiff when he is with passionate and bold poets. He seldom engages in poetry activities, and he doesn't join others. Occasionally poets get together, and he is as light as usual. His poems have a gloomy and elegant style. Various schools of poetry attack each other, but tolerate Loy. In the noisy Sichuan poetry world, Alai is a silent minority.

Editor of New Grassland

His literary achievements made him easily transferred to the literary publication New Grassland of Aba Cultural Bureau as an editor. As an editor, he also studied history and religion, and the wings of reason began to spread slowly. He is still writing and publishing poems. Who's Roy? No one knows, but his status as a poet has been basically established.

He found that his poems became longer and longer, his descriptions became more and more detailed, and he became more and more addicted to this kind of description. Besides the description, there were long descriptions. He found that he preferred stories and narratives of intellectuals. His preparation is so rich, his sense of reality is so strong, and his writing ambition begins to breed: he needs to express national culture and become a spokesman for the nation.

Maybe this ambition was not so clear at first. Formally, he just turned to writing novels, and he successfully embarked on the road of writing novels: writing short stories and novellas. The short story was published in Sichuan Literature without rejection, and it was the headline. His novel has no growing period. It is like a fragrant Shan Ye fruit.

At that time, novels were also very fashionable, and whoever was new became famous overnight. Ma Yuan, Tashi Dawa, Han Shaogong, Liu Suola, Acheng, Xu Xing ... But the pace of Loy is a little slow, and the literature of 1986 has been exhausted, but the language of Loy's novels stubbornly shows its heterogeneity and is natural, and he quickly gets inspiration from his novels, but this does not mean that he is successful. Most of his novels reflect the Tibetan life he is familiar with, and he is more immersed in the inner experience of those lives, but he can't see the customs and novelty. He is rich in stories and full of passion, but he is confused about writing-mainly because too few people agree with his writing. His novels are always published, but his own pace has slowed down, which may be the low point of Loy's writing. But this low point is purely psychological for him, and outsiders think that he is rising like a new star. At that time, he had just published his first novel collection, Blood of the Old Year. His confidence should have been greatly increased, but his heart was at a loss and confused. For Aya, this is not just anxiety, but fear. Literature used to be a hobby, but now it is a choice. He doubts whether he can do this business! Will I be a librarian for life in a cultural center in a county? He thinks the prospect is terrible. He realized that his creation must be related to national culture, and he wanted to express national culture by means of literature. This was Alai's literary ambition at that time!

Spiritual wanderer

1989 Alai is 30 years old. He wants to prove whether he has this ability. Full of passion, he walked out of the house, climbed over the snow-capped mountains and wandered in the Zoige prairie. This passionate walk became a turning point in his creation.

He walked for two months, sometimes sleeping in the wind, sometimes sitting on the grass with Tibetans watching the white clouds scurry, drinking and eating yak meat, and feeling everything that nature has given him. He gets rich spiritual food every day, he is getting stronger and stronger, he is happy, and he is happy on the grassland alone. He wrote another poem and wandered in the Zoige prairie at the age of 30. In the poem, we can see that the reborn Loy is full of passion, and a voice is calling for the front. ...

Two months later, Ah came back and began to write novels again, which was a fresh start after a baptism. He wrote short stories and novellas, and then he began to write novels easily. This creative process is happy. Loy recalled:

In May of that year, I sat in front of the window, facing a verdant birch forest on a hillside not far away, and heard the cuckoo's cry from the village ... I turned on the computer, and the dribs and drabs accumulated in my attention to local history over the years suddenly showed a vague, vibrant and meaningful look at that moment. As a result, the first line of "The Dust Settles" falls on the screen ... This is a natural flow.

Five months later, the novel The Dust Settled was completed. Then, winter came, frost fell, and snow fell. Novels and the world in Alai's heart, like the birch forest, experienced the impulse and noise of life and returned to silence. Alai experienced a grand spiritual baptism.

After the writing dust settled, the manuscript was put on the computer, and he once again walked through the land of Jia Rong sung in the book, and this roaming was a spiritual reward for himself. He said that this novel evolved from a poem that vented emotions. ...

This passionate creation is a fierce burning of his emotions.

From plateau to plain

1997 Alai left Aba Plateau, where she lived for 36 years, and came to Chengdu to work as an editor in the science fiction world. About this turning point in my life, Ah Lai said that I had stayed in Aba for too long, and my friend said that I would make a magazine. I happened to have some ideas about business culture and went. This actually refers to the surface. Loy said in Stairs to the Earth: Not to leave, but to escape. For my dear Jia Rong, for giving birth to my Jia Rong, the only thing I can do is to save more beautiful memories. This is the tragic death of the soul.

1998 "The Dust Settles" is in full bloom, but Loy devoted himself to the editing and contribution of "Science Fiction World". The publication of "The Dust Settles" makes Alai the center of media pursuit. The reporter surrounded him, but after interviewing three or five sentences, the topic quickly changed from creation to "science fiction world". He became an out-and-out urbanite, socializing, talking, media, planning and activity planning one after another. Magazines have also been made one after another. The circulation of magazines ranges from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands to hundreds of thousands. Did Alai leave Aba to write novels? From the remote grassland to the sci-fi world, Loy is facing a transformation?

Alai is surrounded by a group of students from Tsinghua and Peking University. Ah, this is a science fiction writer who works in a magazine and is addicted to the science fiction world.

It's hard to imagine that Loy is more addicted to science fiction. In addition to professional conversation, it is professional writing. When Loy talks about industrial civilization, you forget that Loy is grazing on the open grassland, writing poems and novels.

He was seldom heard to talk about novels in the following years.

It seems that Alai has devoted himself to the magazine operation: organizing topics, planning activities and promoting distribution. Not only domestic media, but also international project cooperation. Astronauts flying around space and foreign science fiction writers were invited to China.

Soon, the circulation of "Science Fiction World", where Alai is located, has been rising in China, which has also attracted the attention of the international science fiction community. According to a recent survey published by Trajectory, an authoritative magazine of popular science and science fiction information in the United States, Science Fiction World has the largest circulation in the world and was recently selected as the best periodical by the World Science Fiction Association.

In 2000, Alai became the editor-in-chief and soon became the president of the magazine. In a few years, a small magazine, from operation to management, has become a cultural industry that everyone is pursuing now.

Recently, Alai's industry has extended to the fields of finance, economy and psychology. Alai invited several young media veterans to make a magazine called Heart.

Two years ago, Alai began to introduce the modern enterprise system. While strengthening management, he also tried to link the magazine management with the capital market, and established a joint venture with a number of popular science media in China to establish a media company. Not satisfied with the traditional operation mode, he wants to try his hand in the process of cultural industrialization, so that science fiction can truly spread its boundless world in China and science fiction and fantasy literature can form a real market in China. He believes that in China, a country with a very deep tradition of fantasy literature, the new fantasy literature based on science will definitely have a huge development space.

Alai's works, both early poems and later essays, have opened a pure and heavy spiritual world. Similarly, when talking with partners and marketing companies about capital operation, equity financing and project investment, Alai showed us another world.

Ah, for business and literature, it is important to be a man, be beneficial to the world and humanities, be constructive in culture, show the historical process and express the justice of reality. This is the conscious responsibility of cultural people.

In a few years, Loy became a myth in the commercial media. Just like his literary legend, he proved his business genius to the world with his original profit model. In that era when magazines and newspapers burned money, many magazines and newspapers lingered in front of the gate of hell, but Loy could go to the legendary swordsman. Roy sees the science fiction industry clearly. Under the condition of market economy, science fiction does not rely on the government to do a project or a project, but develops in response to market demand. Many magazine people also went to the sci-fi world of Alai to learn from it. When they entered the time tunnel of the science fiction world, they felt a mysterious power.

Alai is still a pure writer at heart, but his behavior has become a very modern Confucian businessman. He has a business philosophy, he has management tools, and he has the ability to use his ideas to make the company grow. His steadfastness and determination have enabled his magazine to grow rapidly on a solid foundation. He does one job, has a profit model, and then does the next one. If he fails, he will make decisive adjustments. He said that he was never vain and ambitious. My job is to cultivate people's ability of discovery and creativity. Of course, we should also consider the company's profits. But no matter how big the business opportunity is, I will not conflict with my own ideas.

Generally speaking, businessmen and writers are regarded as two kinds of animals. Loy doesn't think so. He thinks it's a matter of personal ability. A person's ability is multifaceted. He firmly believes that one can tap one's different potentials. What he often does is to budget, plan, implement, settle accounts, income, cost, and get through the joints. All kinds of cultural activities are trivial, but there is something powerful in his heart. He does what he should do, and literature is a fate in his heart. This extremely personal thing is well guarded by Loy and rarely shared with others. He has no anxiety, he is calm, he creates myths, he creates pleasure and creativity all his life, and happily puts himself in a job without pleasure.

He has been writing.

He is still telling the story of Jia Rong's hometown, which is the hometown of his life. In addition to the true and illusory romance, there is also the vulgarity and pain of social changes. All this is in Loy's blood and bone marrow. As long as you are quiet for a while, it will naturally flow out. His creation maintains a high literary quality, and there is no sign of slacking off and doping. His heart is full of big trends and his cultivation has reached a certain level. The noise around, the halo on the head, can't be immersed in his gloomy words at all. Naturally, we read empty mountains.

The title of "Empty Mountain" is given by Alai, which is very Zen, but it is not as delicate and long as "Empty Mountain after Rain". No one seems to be drifting away on the empty mountain. It tells two painful stories and two lies. In Gone with the Wind, the kind Guerra died in a lie in Yoshimura. When he cooked a meal for his mother, he found himself a soul. The robot village people who have been excited for many days in the sky fire fell asleep on the night when the fire came. Such a touching plot is alai-style. His pity for reality and his love for literature and religion make The Empty Mountain unique.

The surprise and shock it brings us may be very different from that in The Dust Settles, but the power of literary classics is the same. We saw Roy on his way.

Signing Tencent

On September 3, 2065438, the "Tencent Literature" system was officially unveiled. On the same day, Mo Yan, Alai, Su Tong and Liu Zhenyun, four influential writers in China and even in the world, also signed a contract with the Tencent Literature Masters Group to escort online literature and form the "Tencent Literature Masters Advisory Group".

Alai's works authorized by Tencent Literature include Dust Flying and King Gelsall.
